That's not to say that the existence of GLP-1s are directly making people more bigoted in their anti-fatness. But their marketing relies on extremely anti-fat tropes, floods the airwaves with anti-fat messages, and sends the message that anti-fatness is not just pro-health, it's morally righteous.

my colleagues worked so hard on this. And thank you, Congresswoman, and your staff, for championing this. 💖
Too often when discussing trans rights, we’re forced to be on the defensive, as Republicans wage attacks.

Today, we take the opportunity to look forward by introducing my Trans Bill of Rights, a comprehensive vision to provide protections for all trans and nonbinary people.

Concentration camps: stories of as many as 50 people to a cell — men and women in some cases — with no windows and limited airflow, a single camera-monitored toilet, aluminum blankets, no showers and poor quality food.
ICE detainees from Maine being held under ‘inhumane’ conditions in Mass. facility, attorneys say
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson said the allegations of overcrowding and lack of access to lawyers are false.

Like I dunno, I keep thinking about how every time women, especially older women, start becoming *visible* in a left-of-center movement, instead of just invisibly making it run, there’s complaints that the movement is somehow now too centrist.
Still a little mad about this. Dismissing craftivists (who are mostly women) as cringey bandwagoneers is bullshit. Not everyone is Extremely Online; communities form in person, too: PTA meetings, book club, grocery store, gas pump, daycare pickup, pharmacy, dog park, ice rink, stadium, etc etc etc
And they aren't all crowing about it on social media, so let's not assume that all the people in hats and buttons passing out whistles are doing nothing else. People - "wine moms," "knitters," who else do you think has ready access to breast milk? - are working behind the scenes for good.

Right now, Democrats have the power to defund and abolish ICE. We should do it. This is about right and wrong—and the murder we are seeing on the streets is just plain wrong. Anyone who supports funding DHS and ICE is supporting the murder of Americans. We can stop this.

rightwingers see people caring about others in their community and instead of finding that inspiring they think it’s some sort of grand conspiracy because they don’t understand what it means to care for others you don’t personally know

This is one of the stories I've tried to convey for a while now:

The Trump administration and its allies have long invoked faith to justify policies, appeal to certain groups, etc.

But the president's religious critics have *also* long been numerous, and increasingly loud.

And my point, I suppose, is that you never get past fascism as long as you, too, hold those values to be superior to values like cooperation or caring or empathy. If you worship "strength" and practice dominance politics you will always eventually summon a strongman to dominate the public.

Suffering isn't the only profound human experience that is worthy of art.
Sometimes I get annoyed at Heated Rivalry takes that are ignorant of the art form, the universe of Romance.

But then I'm delighted seeing people's first experiences with Romance.

Intimacy! Vulnerability! Growth! Becoming the people you need to be to be happy and make each other happy! It's good!

We can’t ignore the misogyny and homophobia baked into Good’s killing—and erasing her wife does just that
