Americans are enraged, and they want fighters: an opposition party that communicates that they share and understand that rage. The Senate Democrats showed Sunday that they still don’t get that, and it’s not clear that some of them ever will. trib.al/mZfi6Qw

I work in infectious disease and not many things scare me but botulism does. Grateful to my coworkers, the lab workers, and other epis that detected the current formula outbreak. Infant botulism (affectionately known as baby bot) is so terrible and this is why we need funded public health!!!!

Having health insurance and not using it isn't fraud. It's the expected behavior from a percentage of policy holders. That's how insurance works.

Honestly, I am exhausted by the bad faith arguments. This guy is an MD--he understands the basics of health insurance. He's just willing to stand there and gaslight the entire country, and it is so exhausting. Like punching water.

While this isn't surprising, it's worth noting that this administration is elevating the most violent state actors in the most violent state institution in a country swimming in state violence.

When I tried to ask Sen. Kennedy about health care he said “I don’t have anything for you.” Funny how he doesn’t have any folksy Foghorn Leghorn colloquialisms when he actually has to be a responsible governing adult.

It's actually kind of instructive to realize that every single Republican lawmaker wading into this is so independently wealthy that it is cheaper for them to self-pay for medical care out-of-pocket and as such, they are all idiots when it comes to the basics of how health insurance works

"Okay, we've made our point, time to give up now"

Take Schumer's job please.
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

The far right took over the GOP through the long process of taking over local and county organizations and the left can do the same. It’s not an instant fix but it actually works.

Great @gbbranstetter.bsky.social read on how throwing trans people under the bus is not a winning political strategy and in fact the opposite is true. Democrats have an opportunity here to not be craven cowards succumbing to transphobic messaging.
Democrats Can’t Blame Trans People for Their Own Failures
Despite the attempts by so many in the party's establishment to paint trans rights as a toxic issue, transphobia was soundly rejected across the country this week.

not just that they'll fold under pressure but fold under this specific type of pressure.
The lesson Trump and Republicans will take away is that their capacity for cruelty far outstrips Democrat resolve and that disciplining Democrats with widespread punitive cruelty will always work.
