Everyone arguing "just do what wins elections"

1) is inevitably arguing for what they want anyway, regardless of polls or winning or any other data; and

2) has no explanation at all for Trump & GOP winning with a big pile of policies that majorities consistently oppose.

White men are 30% of the US and if they look around the room and see it’s less than 90% white men they think it’s affirmative action.
85% of CEOs are white men.

All but one US President has been a white man.

65% of all elected offices are held by white men.

Roughly 30% of the population is white men.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS TOPIC EVEN???

This is going to trigger another round of abuse for this woman but the basic facts appear to be that she was separated at the time and so was the CEO. She recoiled on the jumbotron because her husband was attending the same concert.
At a Coldplay concert in July, Kristin Cabot appeared on the Jumbotron in the arms of her boss. Cabot retreated, trying to make things right with the people who mattered most. Now, for first time since that viral moment, Cabot is sharing her side of the story. trib.al/I8tWdU4

Apart from the fact the leader of the right mocked Reiner, one small difference is that Reiner's day job was making movies that people loved, while Kirk's starting point was creating enemies list of professors to be fired or harassed. These are not the same things.

Brown U kids who survived USA 389th mass shooting of 2025 will now pay out of pocket for their healthcare, because USA guarantees guns but not health.

Australians who survived the 1st mass shooting in 29 years will pay nothing for healthcare because Australia guarantees health & regulates guns.

Noem: We have not deported military veterans.

Rep. Magaziner: We are joined on Zoom by a combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Earlier this year, you deported him to Korea.

a lot of political rhetoric is now just dishonest like that. when people say "i wish politicians spoke for the working class" they straightforwardly mean "i wish politicians said what i think" but are very well aware that sounds much less sympathetic

"Working Class" of course here being defined neither by wealth nor employer/employee hierarchy status, but whether you job seems old-fashioned. So a millionaire construction firm owner who occasionally works on site is "Working Class", but his indebted secretary isn't.
a belief that liberals are not in spiritual communion with the white working class, which is held as the virtuous repository of american identity.

It’s very funny to me that countries are trying to pass laws banning teens from social media until they’re older and can “handle it” as if the last decade hasn’t been about watching rich middle aged men nuke their brains on Twitter and then run the USA via shitpost.
Dude. Yes. Alito and Thomas are of course the standout examples, but all of the Republican justices have tells in their writing and their questioning indicating that they are, to varying degrees, marinating their brains in dumb bitch juice
My theory, fwiw, is that Supreme Court Justices are not immune to Twitter brain poisoning. I suspect all six have horrific information environments and have therefore lost the ability to understand the people who don't agree with them.

all of this will continue until society comes to the conclusion, which it hasn't yet, that being someone's parent isn't a license to torture and kill them
This is 100% correct. The people at risk from this are not you and me and our children, but the babies born to MAHA mothers who may have Hep B who now won't allow themselves to be tested and won't allow their babies to be vaccinated.

Those babies deserve to live, too, but they won't.
I do want to note three things that have happened in the wake of what ACIP is becoming to hopefully put some panicked nerves at ease.

1.) The American Association of Pediatrics is publishing their own schedule that matches the one before this goat rodeo.

As a Jew, I've always worried that "Never Again" would mean "Never Again TO US," but it's wild to see someone just come right out and say that.
Sharing the video of this because it’s such a ghoulish thing to say that I’m honestly in disbelief that I even heard her properly

Turns out if you try to enshrine bipartisanship in the function of your legislature by making it nearly impossible to pass substantive new legislation without support from the other party, the actual result is you encourage the executive to bypass the legislature & act unilaterally
Heaven forbid the Republicans get rid of the filibuster…

NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.
