asking the internet desperately for help here because Google isn’t helpful. how should I actually cook the “oven-browned” Costco turkey breast. I know it’s like meant to be maybe carved cold but like I figure I can just stick it in the oven with foil or some broth????????

My @vanityfair.com oral history of PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES, released on this day in 1987:

Starring Steve Martin and John Candy, the John Hughes road trip comedy had a nearly four-hour runtime at one point. Hear from cast, crew, and Hughes' family about the classic.

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

To be clear:

LA County has declared a state of emergency BECAUSE OF the federal government.

The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is a striking political moment of internal collapse. Local govts feeling compelled to protect their ppl from … their own govt.

I've had to take very strong allergy medication before bed lately, which has resulted in weird dreams. I also started my yearly fall horror movie binge. So last night I had a vivid dream that I worked at a "Babadook reserve." People kept bringing me their Babadooks and I had to manage them in a zoo.

Having a radio - with, like, a dial - in a place where you're spending a lot of time is such a joy, you start to know all of your local stations not by call number but by physical location, just being like "this is where on the arc jazz is. over here on the arc is classical."
doing the dishes in my underwear, drinking decaf coffee in my kitchen, the radio is playing bobby mcferrin. absolutely what i assumed adulthood would be like when I was 7
