One of my all-time favorite clips of Rob Reiner, from his Friars Club Roast in 2000, as he reads aloud Roger Ebert's infamous scathing review of his movie North. The man had an amazing sense of humor about himself. RIP.

Law enforcement officials have also not recovered any manifesto-like document detailing the motivations for the attack, Perez said.

One of the best pieces I ever read in The New Yorker, not surprisingly, was by Roger Angell. "This Old Man" was written when Angell was 94! Truly fantastic stuff: www.newyorker.com/magazine/201...

Geez I’m shocked that This VP is blaming immigration for some problem. So out of character for him.
Vance literally blaming antisemitism on rootless cosmopolitans
Folks, would you believe me if I told you JD Vance was over there railing against the immigrants as the reason for the antisemitism

As a society, we're much, much more sympathetic to addicts and addiction than we used to be. But we still fall into the belief once a person goes into recovery, they're fine (this is sometimes a narrative pushed by the addicts themselves.) But that is not always, or even most often, the case.

I am 50 years old. Three movie directors have had the biggest impact on shaping my cultural tastes: John Hughes, Cameron Crowe, and Rob Reiner. Hard to believe 2 of them are now gone.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Directing “The Princess Bride “ AND “When Harry Met Sally” is like a baseball pitcher throwing two perfect games.
As will be noted over and over in the coming days, the *beginning* of his directing career was SPINAL TAP, THE SURE THING, THE PRINCESS BRIDE, STAND BY ME, A FEW GOOD MEN, MISERY and WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. That is an absolutely *amazing* run with quite a lot of variety.
