Sierra, Madre!

Solana Sierra's father took her to see Serena & Venus Williams play Fed Cup (now BJK Cup) in Buenos Aires in 2015.

And the experience had a huge affect on 11yo Sierra.

Now 21yo, the Argentine earns her 2nd WTA 125 title, defeating Lola Radivojevic, 6-3, 6-1.

For the second year in a row, Coco Gauff will leave China with a WTA 1000 trophy, rallying from a break down in the 2nd set to defeat Jessica Pegula, 6-4, 7-5.

With the win, Gauff distances herself from Amanda Anisimova to secure her spot as the top American.

I love this story in Shanghai.

I know the cynical take is "The WTA has THAT semifinal lineup in Wuhan, and the ATP has... this." (Which mostly feels like a clapback to all the bros out there who shit on women's tennis.)

But, this is an incredible story on about 10 levels.

Arthur Rinderknech and Valentin Vacherot have played each other one time before today.

Rinderknech won 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of an ITF Futures event in 2018.

He earned about $400 for the win.

Today's winner gets $1.1 million.

we gotta give jasmine paolini her props. she's into her 4th week in China and playing virtually nonstop with a huge grin, helped win BJK Cup in Shezhen, made singles QF & dubs title in Beijing, now in the Wuhan SFs and, like....playing some of the best singles tennis of her year? titanium boss.
