I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

In an interview with Collider, Hunter discussed her character's mental state in the episode as it relates to her backstory and the larger state of the STAR TREK Universe: "I think she makes a mistake that she can't live with. The Federation is a severe outfit at the beginning of this show. At the beginning of STARFLEET ACADEMY, they are still recovering from The Burn and from some of the restrictions that they instilled after The Burn. But nevertheless, I think Nahla really takes some of those steps that she was responsible for when she quits. And I think that child, she feels compelled to make that right, as mysterious as that is to search the galaxy for a person who is orphaned, possibly. I love the mysticalness of that, and I love that there was something deeply mysterious about that search. We all make mistakes. I don't know."

That’s US Americans in general for the rest of the world. The US is a failed society; its citizens can’t point its own country on a map.

I remember when the newest Star Trek was the most popular series on Netflix worldwide while US Americans were preoccupied with bald Klingons and bearded Spock.

The discourse on Starfleet Academy has taught me that the media literacy of much of the Trek fandom is really low (reflective of the US). It's all judged on the axis is it good/bad or is it like the thing I liked before - not analyzing its ideas & effectiveness of exploring them.

Epstein took this photo at a 2015 dinner with Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk and emailed it to himself. Further review shows the same photo displayed on Epstein’s credenza. While much of the image on the credenza had previously been obscured, this email now makes clear what it shows.

He made me step up my game in a lot of ways. I can't say he was rusty. I will say there was one [time] where we shot like five scenes a day, and I just did not know that one by heart, because it was the last scene. I was hoping to God we did not get to it, but we ended up getting to it, and so we were in it together, but I felt really taken care of by him. Yo, he was amazing. I felt like he was literally the big brother that I needed as SAM, but also as Kerrice."
