I started as a forensic science major because I wanted to go to medical school and become a forensic pathologist like Kay Scarpetta in Patricia Cornwell’s novels. But then I failed chemistry and biology, but had an A in English, so I decided to switch majors and become an English professor instead.

I got in trouble at work for my social media posts about teaching, and I was so devastated by the whole thing that I decided to deactivate for a bit. But I missed you all, so I'm just gonna try to focus more on safe topics like sci-fi research and cats.

I've read over 100 books so far this year, but somehow I've only read 1 of the Good Reads Choice Awards nominees. For someone whose job is book, I need to keep up with new books better!
