Besides “Harold and Maude,” one thing I will always remember about Bud Cort is something I read about him when he spoke at Hal Ashby’s memorial in 1988.  He got up to speak in front of hundreds of Ashby’s family, closest friends, and co-workers.  His first line was, “I was Hal’s favorite.” RIP, 👑.

Sunny beat me to the very next statement I was going to make.

The whole performance wasn’t about the triumph of the individual, but the collective effort and joy that that elevates all of us out of oppression.

They literally danced their way through and out of the history of colonialism TOGETHER.
Okay so a thing I LOVED about that is how, whereas so many halftime shows kind of elevate the star above the other dancers/extras—often literally—that was like the exact opposite, he was *with and among* the people around him

Eagle-eyed watchers of Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show would have spied Toñita, the queen of Los Sures, AKA Williamsburg.

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

Use of the term "wine mom" should immediately raise suspicion of bad faith and ratfuckery on the part of whomever is using it.

The project of discrediting and delegitimizing women as political actors is ALWAYS a huge red flag, and is essential to the project that is fascism.

Is anybody ever gonna take a step back and realize the "Russia Russia Russia" people — derided as lunatic wine moms — were actually underplaying the foreign influence stuff, and the loud people who kept insisting it was all fake are now saying Jeffrey Epstein was kind of a cool guy?

The public made noise for Liam Ramos and it got him released from Dilley.

Now we must make noise for 7 year old Diana Crespo.

Her parents were taking her for emergency medical care when ICE grabbed them, and she’s rotting in the camp sick and exposed to measles.

Get them out!

This is how direct the lineage is, Muddy Waters learned guitar in Mississippi Juke Joints watching Son House & Robert Johnson. 20 plus years later he finds Buddy Guy, fresh off the train from LA & starving in Chicago. Buys him food, & gets him a gig.

Legend isn’t even enough.
So cool for 89-year-old blues legend Buddy Guy to be honored. Appearance in Sinners last year (and on the soundtrack). And just won Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album.

We've taken our daughter to what were essentially symbolic protests (like the No Kings 'offshoot' at Grand Army Plaza), but we've definitively crossed the kid-safe rubicon now
I’ve said it multiple times and I’ll say it again….leave your children home. Please. This isn’t a teachable moment. It’s a dangerous one. Save the lessons about democracy, being an involved citizen, and the right to protest for table talk. Again, please.
SHAME!!! ICE in Portland just tear gassed thousands of peaceful protesters, including children, the elderly, and dogs. #Portland

Former Texas Lege reporter here. A Dem hasn't held this seat since 1990. Tarrant is the safest of red suburban counties. There is no way the TX and national GOP aren't in panic mode right now.
JUST IN: Democrats flip a red seat in the Texas Senate.

Taylor Rehmet wins against Leigh Wambsganss, a conservative activist who helped lead right-wing efforts to take over TX school boards.

With all early vote, and 95% of precincts, in, Dem up 57/43.

Trump won this seat by 17% in Tarrant County.
