fun fact: if a recipe tells you it will take 8 to 10 minutes to caramelize onions, they're a lying-ass bitch

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson: "There was a time that we could take [the federal government] at their word. That time has long passed. That is why we are calling on ICE to halt all operations in Portland until a full and independent investigation can take place."

Authoritarians want you to despair, they want you to give up Trump is powerful, but only because a lot of people gave him that power. Giving up in advance is one of the worst things you can do.
This kind of thing does point out a real ethical dilemma: block or mute?

Dems...the ones who aren't delusional that is, need to make it clear that any oil execs that touch any of the oil that is stolen from Venezuela WILL go to prison.

One reason I favor impeaching Noem is because it's a political process for a political problem. No, this will not stop ICE enforcement action but YES it would be an opportunity to educate the public about DHS & perhaps begin to lay a foundation for dismantling it.

Everything that this hateful administration is doing is causing my mental health to suffer. I’m in an amazing relationship, have two wonderful pets, love where we live.

Yet I’m terrified we’ll end up in a concentration camp or be killed.

I know I’m not the only one but I’m so angry and scared.

First they came for the Black people, but they said they were just going after the thugs.

Then they came after the immigrants, but they said they were just going after the criminals.

Now they're coming after the white moms.

Whk do you think they will come after next?

I know it's not mainstream conventional wisdom but I think "Abolish ICE" is a perfectly reasonable response to this and you can get the public to buy in. Most people don't want masked murderous thugs roving their streets
MPR playing an eye witness account right now of ICE shooting directly through the windshield at her face and not giving her medical care for 10 minutes.

You do not need to watch a murder to say it is bad.

You do not need to watch a murder to take action.

You do not need to watch a murder to prove yourself to ghosts on the internet.

Do not traumatize yourself to appease others.
Alternatively, do, if you can handle it. We should not get the privilege of turning a blind eye. Not anymore. Too many have done that to Palestine and still deny it’s as bad as it is there.

If you can’t handle it, there is nothing wrong with that. If you can, bear witness and TAKE ACTION.
Don’t watch a video of someone dying.

I don't care if she didn't follow directions; I don't care if she was disrespectful; I don't care if she was noncompliant; I don't care if she spit in his face, called him ugly, and smacked his mom - "immediate execution by the state" was not warranted; jfc, this isn't complicated.
losing my mind at the "she should have followed directions" people

really? really? you're cool with "if you don't follow directions, they get to kill you"? that seems like a good state of affairs to you? that seems like how law enforcement ought to work: instant obeisance or death?

Law enforcement officers CANNOT use deadly force against a fleeing person fleeing unless they have a reasonable belief that the individual poses a danger to others (e.g., they know the person is armed). If in vehicle, the person must be threatening to use deadly force with the vehicle or other means

Affix your safety mask first. You aren't required to see the violence firsthand to grok its existence. Take care of yourself, and to those sharing images, a reminder CPTSD is real. Trigger warnings so people can mute terms is a kindness.

Minneapolis, we love you. I'm so very sorry.

They are counting on you giving up.

Doesn't mean you can't be afraid, angry, or both, but spreading hopelessness is spreading inaction in the face if fascism narratives and that's euthanasia for resistance.
Guys, with understanding that everyone is angry right now, I am honestly going to start blocking people who say things like, "Who cares? The law doesn't matter anymore," or "They can do whatever they want, they can't be stopped" etc. I mean, if you really feel that way, you're a part of the problem.
