I’m a very infrequent football person, and I just got to watch one of the craziest things I’ve seen in sports. Holy mackerel.

The problem is, the dodgers’ ownership wants to win. Everyone else’s ownership, including the Yankees, doesn’t care enough to compete that way as long as fans keep buying tickets. What ever happened to pride?

A Polish farmer finds an old lamp while tilling his field. He rubs it and a genie pops out and grants him three wishes. The farmer thinks for a while and then says: "I want the Mongols to invade Poland."

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is a beautiful film. The biopic is not the focus. It’s an intimate story of someone struggling with acute depression, how pernicious and unexpected it can be, and the love someone can be wrapped in - not to fix it - but to stay afloat. Float and there’s hope.

Naming your alarm company after an eye that (1) only exists bc of prior failure caused by hubris, (2) can’t see everything, (3) is evil, and (4) is constantly distracted by its own megalomania leading to its own destruction, is certainly a choice.

Episode 3 of the skywalker saga is the perfect example of George Lucas’s strengths and weaknesses. He builds an elaborate world, one where myth and religion become deeply intertwined with modern social and political divisions. It’s a rare feat.

But…🧵

Matt Taibbi says no one owns him.

Yet here is footage of @ninajankowicz.com owning him.
Yep, I unfortunately had to share the witness table with him at this hearing. It didn’t go well for him

So heated rivalry is amazing, but one of the wildest parts of it is its determination to shove Canadian mid aughts indie music back into the zeitgeist. As an elderly millennial, this is public service.

Happy last night of Hanukkah! It has been a heavy one, but light casts best in the dark. We most need miracles, and each other, when things seem most broken.

Trying to relitigate constitutionality of the FCA based on a nonexistent version of the law is truly deranged. Policy preference (pro undetected fraud) masquerading as legal argument, which is what conservative luminaries often say "liberal" judges are doing.

Every accusation is a confession, etc.

Hang on, I seem to remember a campaign to villainize an effort to *create policy* for how to respond to “lies, smears, and AI deepfakes” at DHS. (I remember it because it endangers my family to this day.) Are they admitting that was a good thing now?
