I have a touch of something and just turned off my alarm. Which the Mini-Void would not allow. She doesn't beg for food, and her needs are met all day long. But letting mom sleep in? This will not stand! So I finally staggered out of bed, and the little asshole went to sleep on the radiator.

When they see a cop car, my stepfather (raised Catholic and still retains the guilt) gets sweaty palms and wonders what he's done. My mother gets the look a Dachshund gets when a stranger walks past their house. "Move along, buddy. We don't want your kind 'round here."
If not for the fact that she is intensely ACAB, my mother would have given Columbo a run for his money as a detective.
My mother lives nearby, I would have tagged her. She loves to gawk, and has no problem wandering up and asking questions. Which she has some effortless ability to do in a way where people just answer, even if they probably shouldn't.

Idioms do not translate, and his goes for swears as well. Translating "fuck off" into Danish loses all meaning. Conversely, the Danish phrase with the same connotation translates as "run up my ass". The origin of this phrase are obscure enough that even my autistic and obsessive self can't find it.

Hanukkah is coming up, and it is making me wonder how long it takes for Things We Just Do to turn into Tradition. Like, for Hannukah we eat foods fried in oil, so in recent decades donuts have been pretty big. In a thousand years, will donuts be Tradition? Will Jewish people make their own donuts++
