look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

Contacted Jon Ossoff's office (once again!) to tell him to not cave, and also Raphael Warnock's office to ask him to encourage his colleague to stand firm. Hope they get enough calls/emails to make a difference.

Hey @ossoff.bsky.social remember this? Don’t you dare cave on a deal with Republicans. We voted you in because you weren’t the same old establishment guy. We can vote you out too.

I don’t trust axios but call your senators ASAP. The deal (supposedly) is the promise of a vote in December to maybe extend the ACA subsidies

Imagine my surprise when I look to see how badly the Falcons lost to the Colts, only to discover that they're in OT and I can actually watch it happen. 🙄

I hope I'm around to see it, but whatever it is, it probably won't feel like enough.
Every time this stuff happens, my thought process begins to consider what kind of justice will be required in 3 years for these people.
ICE agents in Chicago violently detain a non verbal autistic man for being “non compliant”

He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care

This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person

They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota

Just called Jon Ossoff's office (202-224-3521) and left a message asking him to not give in to a compromise on this. It's easy to call and so important not to waste this opportunity!
SCHUMER is on the floor now making this offer to end the shutdown:

Clean CR
Bipartisan "minibus" of approps bills
1-year ACA funding extension
Bipartisan cmte to negotiate on health care

"This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability."

Good literary translation requires understanding (language, culture, genre--on both sides of the translation) and an ability to write well. "AI" can't do that. There are no shortcuts. Treat your work and foreign language readers with the respect they deserve. You won't fool anyone with this.

I just got back from a walk. While I was walking through the park, a little white boy and his father flagged me down from the very other end of the park. Now to be fair, I have on my hat on, so I’m easy to spot lol. The little boy drew me this. A month ago. He has been waiting to see me again.

Missing my mother today, on what would be her 98th birthday, the first one without her here. It's just as strange and difficult as I've seen other folks describe it, although I'm happy to think of her at rest after several tough years. ❤️
