It’s useful for people of my generation to be reminded that this wasn’t that long ago. Ruby Bridges isn’t just still alive—she’s only 71, not ancient!
65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

We'll see how many Republicans end up defecting, but it does seem that several are starting to believe that Trump supporting your opponent isn't a death knell in the way it has been since 2016

Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵

If conspiracy theorists didn’t all just become boring Trump partisans, they would have a very strong story here about MAGA and deep state pedophilia, including trying to coach Epstein until it was too late and you had to have him whacked in prison
A deep dive on how Mr. Populism himself, Steve Bannon, was Epstein’s legal and media coach — “devising responses to the gathering storm of public outrage about Epstein’s criminal history.”

Well that's an interesting way to cover the story, NYT.

Shawshank redemption has the weirdest cultural position of any movie. If you think it’s a bad movie you probably don’t like good movies. If it’s your favorite movie of all time you probably don’t like good movies. If you like good movies you have probably never thought about it for more than 5 mins

I love when moderate Dems are like "we have to stop focusing on identity issues" because their alternative is to shift the focus to like a $1100 tax credit for first-time homebuyers under the age of 35 if they received a pell grant in college.
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25

I really don't like how partisanship makes people trust and/or prop up any figure who is operating against the "bad" guys. This was the whole disastrous Lincoln Project, and now people are like "LOOK Epstein said Trump was the worst guy he ever met." It's at best weird and at worst deeply harmful.

JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."
