One of the things that annoys me about certain types of self defence discourse is self defence is also the way I learned to (sometimes) talk men out of doing violence, to cajole them, to tell a joke, to flatter them, to flatter someone else who might help me.

Since the transphobic dog whistle/air horn of "trans people are an affluent white demographic" is doing the rounds again, remember that it is an absolute crock of shit and you should call it out accordingly. Here's some info on the transgender pay gap in the US:

as therapists it is imperative we dont work with issues that are unresolved for us - for example if we are grieving a loved one we shouldn't be doing grief work.

Imagine what that money could have actually been used for instead over the last 6 years. In a time of funding crisis where charities are having to cut programmes that help women and girls that much spent trying to drag stonewall into an employment dispute seems so wasteful.

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.
