I enjoy this mostly for the impression it might leave with international audiences that Bonhomme is Canada's governor general.

906 days.

That's how long Meta's been blocking news in Canada.

Doesn't matter if the outlet is based in Canada, the U.S. or Germany – we can't read it. Small non-profit or legacy newspaper. Can't read it. Posts made before Aug. 1, 2023? Nope. But disinformation, AI-generated spam, that'll pass.

We're talking about this with @jeetheer.bsky.social on CBC Radio's Day 6 tomorrow. Steve Bannon has compared Canada to Ukraine, and talk is more prominent of using a potential Alberta referendum as a reason to try to take Canada.
Bessent pushes Albertan independence from Canada: "Albertans are very independent people. There's a rumor they may have a referendum on whether they want to stay in Canada or not. People are talking. People want sovereignty. They want what the US has got."

So the newsy bit from Carney's second big speech of the week will probably be the pointed lines near the end:

"Canada does not live because of the United States. Canada thrives because we are Canadians."

And in her next post: "Musk’s participation in the bikini trend opened the floodgates. Grok went from making 300k images a week to 4.4 million." Nearly half of Grok's images were sexualized depictions of women.
In our conservative estimate, 41 percent of Grok’s images — or 1.8 million — were sexualized depictions of women. Separately, CCDH analyzed how many were sexualized images across genders and ages. Their findings: an estimated 3 million images, including more than 23,000 of children.

I spoke to CBC earlier this week about what it’s like to live in Minneapolis.

It’s only the tiniest snapshot of what it has been like in this city. But I hope it helps people outside of Minnesota understand what ICE is doing to our community.

From a toy store in Minneapolis. A toy store.
DHS employees entered our store this afternoon and served us a Notice of Inspection, demanding copies of I9 forms for each employee.

In 27 years as shopkeepers, we have never been subjected to this type of investigation.

They literally always accuse protesters of being paid because 1) it shifts the terrain of the debate and 2) it reassures their base that no one legitimately holds a contrary position. They take comfort in thinking that anyone who disagrees with Trump is either brainwashed or a cynic.
ICE keeps saying the people protesting it are being paid without any evidence, but we have receipts showing that the people *defending* ICE are absolutely being paid.

And yet we only hear lies about the former on cable news.

We've analysed new videos published by @vahid.online that show rows of body bags at the Kahrizak mortuary in Tehran on 10 January.

We've counted at least 186 bodies in one clip and at least 178 bodies in another, although the true figure is likely much higher.

GERMAN PRESIDENT STEINMEIER:

“.. the United States has broken with the values that it helped to establish ..

Best TikTok thing going is the two dudes trying food from every country without leaving NYC. If you haven’t seen them yet, it’s incredible. My favorite so far is last week’s. Legit got me emotional.
