I appear to have gained a few hundred followers as a result of being part of an autism starter pack, so maybe now is a good time to do some kind of introduction to my life and work in that realm.

Hi! I'm an autistic writer who covers autism, pop culture and the middle of that Venn diagram.
Aaron: I don’t think I ever need to visit Blackpool.

Me: I do! I need to go to the store run by the woman whose special interest is Mr. Blobby.

My own self interested take on piracy is that I think it's weird that members of my "community" have taken it upon themselves to pirate my autism memoir for the community while also getting mad at me for not giving more to mutual aid. Where does this money come from if profiting from my work is bad?

I think masking is a serious issue for those who are capable of it and that we absolutely should address the ways in which autistic people can unmask and other people can support them. I also believe the majority of content I see around masking these days is dressed up white lady lifestyle shit.

Once upon a time, I wrote something cheeky in my first assignment for a new place. The editor read it back to me and said “We’re going to have to keep an eye on you.”

Reader, I married him.
What is the best compliment you ever received? Putting aside whether or not you believed it.

I’m still quite fond of DDT, but I’m coming to realize that Saki Akai and Yukio Sakaguchi’s retirements were the beginning of the end of my next level emotional attachment to it.

Maybe I'm missing an important point, but the Ford gov's claim that "Landlords will lower rents if they can rent out more of their properties now that we've given them more power over tenants" feels like something you'd say if you'd never literally never heard of capitalism before in your life.

54-40 deserve a stronger legacy than they’re currently enjoying. We should be talking about their greatness and musical agility and place among the CanRock greats.

95% of authors are not making a living through book publishing. The public needs to understand this.

It's absolutely disgusting what the New York Times, and particularly Azeen Ghorayshi, is doing with its coverage of autism. It's so deeply irresponsible.

It's the same playbook they ran on trans kids.

1990s house artists the KLF went into the funeral business 23 years after they burned a million quid and disappeared from the music industry and today is their annual Day of the Dead where they add more bricks containing human ashes to a pyramid that they plan to complete in 2323.
Man, everything is so bleak, anyone got a fun fact or little bit of trivia they want to share

There are very serious reasons why I didn't get diagnosed with autism before I was 27. But also some less serious ones.

Like I was really into Sloan's "Underwhelmed" as a teenager and I just assumed everything that happens in that song is a perfectly normal interaction for normal people to have.

Might as well bring this back up for his birthday.

(I wanted to share my traditional Sasaki/Vaughn birthday post over here, but it features photos of both of them in lingerie and it got flagged.)
Did you know that Robert Vaughn had a PhD in communications? And that his thesis was on McCarthyism in theatre? And that he almost lost a chunk of his thesis and notes while filming in what was then called Czechoslovakia at the dawn of Prague Spring?

On a superficial level, this was his hottest era of all.
Robert Vaughn, star of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's only contemporary thriller series The Protectors, was born on November 22nd 1932! What are some of your favorite memories of Robert's work on the series?

My primary issue with Heated Rivalry is that my brain refuses to accept any Ilya who does not have floppy blonde hair, an extra L in his name, and a boyfriend named Napoleon.

24 years ago, the magazine I was writing for sent my 19 year old ass to review Mulholland Drive. I re-read it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and wrote a little bit about making peace with things that you wrote before you were ready to write them.
