Read an incredible Reddit AITA update that basically goes “yeah, I showed this thread to my fiancé, and he thinks Reddit sucks shit so the fact that so many people agreed with him on Reddit is what got him to realize he was wrong”

Spent many (many!) hours pulling legal explanations and apologies from lawyers who were caught using AI that hallucinated in which they explained to a judge why they used AI. The explanations are astonishing and extremely good:

1. Ruby Central claimed that since they used the RubyGems open source code, they *had to control it* for “security”.
2. Ruby Central uses my open source code, Phlex and Phlex-Rails.
3. Does this mean that Ruby Central now have the right to takeover my gems “for security”?

I wrote an opinion piece on the RubyGems takeover, which I have been careful to separate from my reporting on what happened and my fact-checking.
The RubyGems takeover from the perspective of an open-source developer
We must demand that Ruby Central make this right.

Simi just wrote up an announcement that he’s done cooperating RubyCentral and it’s another very important read in this whole situation. Notably, he confirms everything in Joel Drapper’s write-up that’s already been circulating and really puts Ruby Central on blast.

After listening to about a dozen first-hand accounts, I’ve published what I know about the RubyGems takeover.
Shopify, pulling strings at Ruby Central, forces Bundler and RubyGems takeover
Ruby Central recently took over a collection of open source projects from their maintainers without their consent.

Take your Kimmel protest energy and use it to freeze out that hateful JKR too!
Maybe HP was a part of your childhood. Well now it's a slap in the face and a dagger in the back of people who just wanna live.
Don't let her see a dime!

Gonna just say, if it's this easy to protest against the monolith that is Disney. Then there is no excuse for people to be clinging to Harry Potter. Like, if the needle can be moved against Disney, people can make it move against JK Rowling. Stop the flow of money into her accounts,
If you protested Jimmy Kimmel being pulled off the air by canceling Disney+ or some similarly simple action that had clear, direct, effective results, it feels good that you helped get him back, right? The neat part of you can choose another simple action, and keep that awesome feeling going.

The funniest thing about Charlie Kirk was that his entire shtick as a teenager was “watch this college dropout DESTROY these undergrads.” And he then went through the entirety of his 20s and into his 30s … still debating undergrads.

Well, there it is. Sinclair is digging in for a fight, so please help push back -- find stations in your area, watch their local news to see what ads they run, then write those advertisers to tell them you're boycotting as long as they're on a Sinclair station.

Just a reminder before the “big announcement” today.
Autism was discovered in 1911 and the modern definition of Autism came in 1943.
Tylenol wasn’t widely used until the 1950s.
Anyone trying to tell you that Tylenol causes Autism isn’t someone that should be taken seriously.

This is, at best, an extreme mischaracterization of what’s happened over the past week.
As a member of the rubygems team for over a decade, Ruby Central’s actions happened without discussion with the maintainers team. Afterwords, the entire team spoke out against what had happened.

It's incredibly gross how rapidly people want to cede ground to misinformation and disinformation rather than just stake a clear moral ground.
