MAGA is falling apart. The Republicans are falling apart. Trump is falling apart. They will continue to do terrible (and in some cases irreparable) damage at home and abroad but something has changed. You can feel it

"Would you support or oppose taxing Not You, without any explanation or understanding of the inherent trade-offs involved?"
With Rachel Reeves reportedly set to apply a new tax on tuition fees paid by overseas students, most Britons support such a move at the previously mooted level of 6%

Support: 57%
Oppose: 18%

It would be harder to find a less sympathetic case, given that her parents paid £20,000 for their house which is now worth £1.2m. Why is somebody moaning about the very existence of inheritance tax a news story?

He doesn't seem to be commenting on Polanski's popularity: he's challenging the workability of his proposed policy. In an age that's dominated by the question "how does this poll?", I'm quite reassured that some still ask "how will this work?" (We can then debate whether or not he's right).

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

They don't care about that. A populist, right wing government would get the Green's more members, bigger demos and even more stuff to campaign ineffectively against. Job done, for them.

It’s another conspiracy of silence. Conservatives don’t want to admit they massively increased taxes on high earners. Labour definitely don’t want to say so; they still want to peddle the idea that others, the rich, can pay more. Truth is if we want more spending we’ll all have to pay more.

Most importantly: it is in zone one. But more seriously: again, how can you be so brain-damaged not to understand that “look, what’s a little light racism to one group? He did something good for ‘you people’ over there!” is literally the thing people are criticising about Starmer, too?

Corbyn's first act as leader - compare and contrast to Eunuch Powell. This is what pissed people like Stephen's mates in the British press off so much, whatever lies they tell themselves to buy their big zone 2 houses.

This (from: www.ft.com/content/75ce...) is something you can *feel* if you are in the UK, especially if you've experienced living abroad. But infuriatingly successive governments and our entire media are somehow absolutely committed to suggesting anyone who wants to change this is the devil...
