they/them will do
If we get the third set of teeth, do they push the old ones out, and do we get the same tooth fairy or a grimmer rebooted tooth fairy?

In the fall, I collected leaves to take photos, just in case I wanted to try making 3D models of them. I left them out for a while and kept surprising myself when I walked into the room and it looked like some serious witchcraft was going on. They would sometimes start spinning mysteriously.

If all the shitty celebrities and billionaires started paying rent for the space they take up in people's brains...that's UBI right there.

Enypniastes eximia from #InsertanInvert2025 in its final form (except if I get crazy and start adding gold detailing on glaze), utterly pink and shiny.
Consensus at home is "Great job, we hate it !"

This government clearly don't really understand the complexity or the danger of the situation. They show no sign of beginning to understand, and every sign of asking the monorail salesman how public transport should work. It's going to be an uphill struggle, but don't leave this to politicians.

how beautiful it is that giant sloths dug tunnels in solid rock.

does anyone know if there are maps of these? i want to see what shapes they employ and overall patterns as a reference.

Brazil’s mysterious tunnels made by giant sloths
These tunnels were once believed to hide religious fortunes deep in their chambers, but the real treasure is found in who – or what – created them.

Unrelated, but just now I looked up "shenanigans"...
Collins Dictionary says it might be from Irish Gaelic "sionnachuighim", meaning "I play the fox", which would be wonderful if true. OED says "unknown origin" though.
I looked up who originated the term “throwing shade”, assuming it was like, rupaul, but

I was puzzled when my last post didn't appear in the Graphics Programming feed, then remembered that the feed has been showing very little content lately. I guess this is related to the monetization of Bluesky Feed Creator. Feeds using the free functionality probably only see a fraction of posts :(

Seasonal real-time rendering experiment I did (radiosity-based lighting) within Shadertoy's constraints (not loading any textures or meshes, no compute shaders)

Modest proposal: use "AI" to perform some token tasks on behalf of all the people getting UBI so we can say (to those who hate giving people money for no work) that the income is in exchange for this "work" (because apparently it's now acceptable to use "AI" for your job, right?)
Two trials will be repeated endlessly despite always producing the same results:

1) Does UBI work? (yes)
2) Does AI improve productivity? (no)
M365 Copilot fails to up productivity in UK government trial
: AI tech shows promise writing emails or summarizing meetings. Don't bother with anything more complex

Saw that the Wikipedia featured article today is on Emmy Noether: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmy_No...
I guess it's fairly predictable that a 1982 abstract algebra text, with a section heading "Axioms and Men" in the introduction, is going to omit any mention of Emmy Noether.

Trying to debug code that renders intersecting spheres, using messy random data, instead of sensibly using simpler data to test it (but no regrets).

The seed capsules of ice plants (Aizoaceae) glistening like watermelon gumdrops in the early morning light.

At first I thought the plants were dappled with dew, but they’re actually covered with hundreds of transparent bladder cells that store water and sequester salt.
