My grandfather taught me how to hunt Pop-Tarts. He'd take me out into the forests of Maine, show me their crumbly scat and the broken branches from their awkward, rectangular ambulation. I remember the first time he had me take the shot, the unaware pastry centered in my rifle's scope.
My eyes close as a wave of nostalgia for the great pop tart hunt of 1986 washes over me. Those were the days. Riding our bikes along the dry creek bed where the strawberry frosted double packs nestled together in the twilight, the scent of warm sugar and anticipation in the air.
modern society is so divorced from our food sources that most people who eat pop tarts have never actually killed one themselves
