The kids are not transphobic, but they are kinda brutal 😂
My nephew: Are you a girl or a boy?
Me: a boy, I used to look more like a girl but then I turned into a boy
Nephew: How???
Me: I went to the doctor and they gave me some medicine
Nephew: …
Nephew, bragging now: I’M a boy and I didn’t even HAVE to go to the doctor

Huh, TIL! Good thread.
okay there's two parallel Thanksgiving stories to be told. One that rooted in White American Protestant Christianity and the other that is rooted in the long Black Freedom Struggle.

We essentially celebrated two completely different holidays over the last 160 years.

Wait...only 160 years?

Evergreen haiku, about so many things
For that, I can only offer a haiku posted to the Haikus at Microsoft internal bulletin board in the late 1990s:

Yesterday it worked
Today it is not working
Windows is like that

Ensuring that Americans eat well should be a top priority for the federal government; no one should go hungry here, we're the wealthiest nation on earth. It's especially egregious that the Trump regime cut food aid to Native Americans, yet again failing to fulfill our treaty obligations.

I'm not a researcher myself, so anybody with expertise should feel free to correct me, but isn't AI famous for quoting from and citing completely fabricated sources? That sounds like the exact wrong kind of revolution you'd want from the literature review process.
"In research, AI has begun to revolutionise the literature review process" let me stop you there chief.

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

Every time I read a clip or summary of an interview with Trump, I wonder how we ended up in such a stupid timeline. I mean, I know how, but for real!?

Presumably Trump voters watch these interviews, right? They love Fox news? And they conclude that this is the president they want? Hoooow??

Alt: Gif of a pixel art stick figure repeatedly whapping itself on the head, first with one skinny stick arm, then the other. The stick figure is shown on a yellow background with the word "confusion!" written above it. The stick figure is me, sure I'm missing something here, or else just hoping a concussion will make this timeline make more sense.

Good. More of this everywhere, please!
NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

Trans people aren’t the ones trying desperately to take away our healthcare or food benefits or kill public education or all the other things the GOP is destroying.
A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.
