Ambivalent language. Gah. ‘Feel free to connect with me on Teams.’ Does that mean, ‘Don’t email me, call me on Teams, ’ or maybe, ‘message me on Teams?’ Or perhaps it means, ‘do what you want.’

"So is it really a turning point, unless disabled people can afford to be alive in this country? And that comes down to structural issues: are they able to heat their own homes, pay their carers and access very basic things?"
No.

Researching the history of children’s homes. The resilience of the children shines through. I don’t see this as entirely favourable. They shouldn’t have needed to develop such resilience. I’m glad that many did, though I wonder how many others were completely broken by their experiences.

Balm to the mind for my creaking knees! “noise alone is not a reason to stop being active…Movement is essential for joint health. Cartilage relies on regular compression and release to receive nutrients, as it has very limited blood supply.”

Why do our joints crack, pop and crunch and should we worry about it?
Joint noises are common and often misunderstood. A physiotherapist explains why they happen and what they do, and do not, mean.

Fab explainer from #SEND legal charity IPSEA on YP’s legal rights & #EHCPs.

Rather than being a ‘drain’ on LAs’ resources, EHCPs keep YP in education - often mainstream.

“Legal change, if the government wants there to be any, takes a long time, so your children’s rights HAVE NOT CHANGED”
NEW POST: The national media stories about EHCPs being cut have got us all worried. We asked IPSEA to set the current SEND law out clearly. Please share. www.specialneedsjungle.com/l...

Happy #NationalHedgehogDay 🥺

This little Egyptian faience model of a hedgehog is from a tomb at Abydos, and was made around 1,500–1,300 BCE.

Hedgehogs had a favourable reputation in ancient Egypt, and were often seen as a symbol of rebirth and renewal of life.

Cleaning with hypermobile hands/arms/shoulders can be a bit of an event. Today I discovered that soaking stove-top iron ware in Persil Bio lifts grease with little scrubbing. This is possibly not great for my cooker or the environment but at least I won’t kill my family with grime.

Morning, this year so far has been a lot. I’ve had significant interactions with 18 NHS medical staff (11 doctors/dentists/consultants/nurses/physios) and 7 NHS administrators. With the exception of 1 admin who’d hit peak CBA, everyone has been beyond magnificent.
I’m fine btw, not all about me!
