I went to immigration court in Seattle to observe the kids docket. These children, some as young as three years old, are expected to understand complex legal processes and represent themselves in court.

That’s not due process.

When you listen to public health advice from the govt about covid please keep in mind that a great many government officials in these roles literally do not care about us and regularly do things that increase the spread of disease and death
After two infants died, the Louisiana Dept of Health under the leadership of the new incoming deputy director of the CDC, delayed notifying the public for months of a whooping cough outbreak. Instead, he ordered DOH to stop promoting vaccines. Pertussis is currently a national health crisis.

After a whooping cough outbreak killed two infants, Louisiana health officials waited months to officially alert physicians or do public outreach. That's not the typical public health response.

This is a great piece. It’s the most basic of questions.
Why Did So Many People in Epstein’s Circle Look the Other Way?
First of all, in order to ask questions about the young women he preyed on, they’d need to see them as people.

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.

It also really makes me realize what a torturous experience Facebook was towards the end of my time there. It felt like you had to constantly battle the algorithm and train your own perceptions/interests not to engage with content. At a sensory level, that was deeply unpleasant.

Deeply absurd. This Google PDF published on a blog (arxiv, not peer reviewed) claims an LLM is "PhD level" but in most cases the MAJORITY of reference URLs were invalid or inaccessible.

The disdain for "incremental" is also translated into how the techbros see economic and technologic innovation.
The NIH director told attendees the NIH doesn't do enough innovative research.

“What puts lives at risk is doing research that’s incremental,” Bhattacharya said. “All it does is advance the careers of the researchers that do it. It results in publications that don’t get used and aren’t replicable.”
