Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

We’ve talked about the Australian social media ban that went into effect last week, how dumb it is, and why it’s already a mess. But late last week, some additional news broke that makes the whole thing even more grotesque: turns out the campaign pushing hardest for the ban was run by an ad agency that makes gambling ads.

Ironically if you electrify the full transport fleet, and put solar panels and batteries on every single house and factory in NZ, we would end up importing so little oil, coal and gas, we would end up in a permanent trade account surplus

AKA SWIMMING IN THE CASH TO AFFORD THOSE NICE THINGS!
So what we need is the rural sector to boom as they generate our export receipts aka hard currency

We need the cities to boom as they produce the services and industry to sell the goods and train the people to man the rural sector (farming is a science)
They are in a symbiotic relationship!

So there is already an ai-generated whitewashing campaign to bury the name of the Muslim man, Ahmed al Ahmed, who disarmed one of the Bondi Beach shooters, and replace his identity with a white guy name and that’s why even a thimble of our potable water powering this tech is too fucking much.

It’s wild how little attention this story has gotten.

This report from Fox doesn’t mention that the killer was enraged that one of the girls had dissed Charlie Kirk, nor the fact that he laughed about it on a stream after cops questioned him but didn’t make an arrest.
Alleged stalker detained then released after girls’ hit-and-run deaths, arrested days later: officials
A 17-year-old charged with murdering two girls in New Jersey was allegedly detained for a short time on Monday before he was arrested on Wednesday.

Just because it's being passed around a lot: NO, data centers in space do NOT benefit from space being cold. Space is cold in the formal sense we use to define temperature. But it is very bad at cooling. What would you rather have to cool hot metal: a lukewarm water tub or a giant cold atmosphere?
