Last job completed it’s highway to home

The road hums a tired tune,
Grey skies fading into blue.
Miles between work and the life I knew.
Each sign feels softer, closer to peace,
As towns give way to lanes I own.
The week drifts off in the rear-view glass
Just me, the road, and heading home.

Miles from home,
I chase my pay and quiet dreams.
A borrowed bed, a paper cup,
The walls don’t know my name or laugh,
just echoes of the working half.
Mornin comes.I’m on the road,
a traveller bound by job and load.
And though the nights feel cold, apart,
the work still feeds the homebound heart.

It’s sad that people only really remember Wile E Coyote for his unfortunate and often tumble off cliffs .

He should be remembered for his very realistic portraits of tunnels in cliff faces
