Make A Scene is looking for fresh new parlor larps. They will give you $300 and help you tune up your game and then run it multiple times. They premiere first-time designers every year! It's a great festival and the sort of thing I'd love to see more of. makeascenemn.org/en/call-for-...

Just this morning I was thinking how much I'd like to see a series of interviews with folks operating at 'upper indie' scale in which they explain their business process.

I'm just a single jerk doing my thing, I can't stand working with people and I've made most of my process up on the fly.

discovered some life-changing ttrpg tech during friday’s session: after taking a mid session break, before getting back into the scene, do a sports style locker room interview with each player (in character). it’s 1) funny 2) focusing 3) immediately and personally characterizing

@lizziestark.bsky.social and I wrote a game about grinding the gears of oppression in the most annoying, deniable ways, inspired by the 1944 Simple Sabotage Field manual of the OSS. It's cozy! You play cute forest animals who work in a trap factory for predators! sixofhounds.itch.io/slow-walk

I've played in many cultures and I don't even believe immersion is a thing. When someone brings it up I mentally replace the word with "selfishness" and everything gets much clearer.

I broke and rebuilt my own mind about a thing. Is roleplaying *really* a conversation?
Monologue Games
Not all RPGs are a conversation I’ve had this maddening…koan, I guess, spinning around in my head for a couple weeks now. It came from a buddy being completely dismissive of solo RPGs. Maybe it was…

I finally got Why We Fight to the table. We played a one shot mission from the Direct Action quickstart book - and I gotta say, I was quite impressed.

It takes inspiration from a lot of good and recent design, but it's really doing its own thing.

This is accurate, but also feels backwards, which is a little bit odd to say.

There are a LOT of complicated factors Involved in this, but one of the weirdest and most disruptive is a sense that RPGs are an unwelcome activity, *even while doing them*.
The "traditional" structure of TTRPGs puts an enormous amount of pressure on the GM to learn/refine & very little on the players.

Which is somehow seen as more reasonable than spreading the load of learning/contribution across the whole table.

Broader implications about community in there, y'all.

I'm bringing three interesting new tabletop rpgs about the end of the world. They play great standalone, or pair nicely as a three part apocalyptic anthology.
