I wish there was a Facebook-like social media, where you could write shortish larp reports and discuss with right people.

I would basically that the most things that were not great in Odysseus were great in Eclipse, and most things that were not great in Eclipse were great in Odysseus. And why.

“Since I realize that I'm hardly unique, I mask to prevent spreading anything I might pick up to those who may be vulnerable or have vulnerable loved ones.”—Jon @dabunny42.bsky.social recently got the vax & posed for @msjulieslam.bsky.social #MaskTogetherAmerica at a @makeascenemn.bsky.social event
Jon, wearing glasses, a @3m Aura N95 respirator, a brown T-shirt with Cookie Monster cartoon inside a circular frame made out of illustration of ribbons and text that saya “Cookies - Gratia - Cookies” and “Tasty” on the left side and “Om Nom Nom Nom” on the top, and an illustration of a chocolate chip cookie at the bottom.

"Cosplaying" and "larping" are real activities done by real people, and using these terms as slang for "pretending to be someone you're not, for political purposes" does indeed alienate those of us who take part in these activities.

Can't overstate this! It feels wonderful to know that someone had a good time with your game. It's not just that they appreciate your work. Someone's day, maybe a day with their friends, got better because of something you put into the world. It's a special feeling.
If you enjoyed a game on Itch, leave a comment!

Honestly, it really brightens a creator's day. And it's a big encouragement for others who may be interested in getting that game.

Itch hides reviews from the game page, so I find comments more useful in the long run.

Like a game? Comment away!

At @qgcon.bsky.social for like one whole hour this weekend and managed to catch this amazingly titled @lackingceremony.bsky.social talk which unlike her I am 100% certain also applies to boardgames (and 45% sure for digital experiences)
Slide: loose touchable design for leaky, excitable creature - strategies for tabletop roleplaying game design that stays embodied and immersive (Avery Alder)

Did you know? Talking about games and thinking about games and writing about games are all cool but are still way less cool than playing games?
We were so happy to have your scenario premiere at our festival! Good luck at @omenstar.bsky.social's The Smoke!
Seriously moved to have received this larp poster from Make A Scene

i think a lot of conversations about whether or not a game "is safe" would be more productively shaped by:

- how risky is this game
- are players aware of and consenting to this risk
- what are tools players can use to mitigate risk

The Golden Cobras are live! This month-long larp-writing competition produces weird and wonderful stuff every year. Will something you write be amongst the contenders?
Theme: Connection & Community. A game that makes you feel a lasting sense of connection, makes you feel capable of working with others, rekindles your faith in other humans, leaves players feeling empowered, and/or leaves you feeling seen and connected, be that socially, intimately, or spiritually.

Despite decades of talking about agency in gaming, our discussions remain in their infancy *precisely* because no off-the-shelf taxonomy can capture the liberation some players feel while being directed down a narrow lane with a forced decision, or the andiety some feel when co-creating.

“As a sex educator, I know that using barrier methods are key tools for preventing the spread of epidemic HIV. COVID is a pandemic, so you better believe I keep masks with me.” — Jon Cole, organizer of the Make a Scene Festival in MN. @Makeascenemn.bsky.social follows anti-COVID protocols.
Behind the 3M V-flex N95 respirator installed with a sip valve is Jon Cole, who is wearing glasses and a T-shirt that shows a black and white illustration of a head breaking apart, and Make a Scene’s roleplay festival’s theme: “Under the Surface”.
Jae Krehbiel just premiered a scenario at our festival, and they also released a new micro-game called Erratic Tachyon Staccatoe. This fifteen minute diversion is a sci-fi epic about warring empires claiming territory in a new subspace fold. Be sure to mark X or O to claim sector of space!
