When my kids are my age and hanging out on holonet social media, there's gonna be a post about how someone's grandpa gets PTSD from hearing whistles and it will be ratioed into the next habitable cluster because people find out grandpa was an ICE agent who dodged the Truth and Reconciliation trials
"ICE guys are pretty miserable. I don’t think morale is particularly high for them. They’re freezing, they’re getting shouted at. They can’t go anywhere without being tailed by 5 cars. They get out and immediately there's a crowd of 100 people shouting at them, blowing whistles as loud as they can."

It's well known that Alabama (my employer) is at the forefront of recruiting relatively wealthy students from out of state by advertising sports-and-party life, at least for undergrad.

Yeah, I have been lowkey kind of fascinated by this genre of post, which really does seem to vindicate the "everything is just perception via social media" theory of politics.

I get that Occupy Wall Street was a formational experience for some people but it was a total and comprehensive failure, we’re now at peak oligarchy!

I’m skeptical that Trump wants it and I believe the GOP as a whole is afraid of it, but aren’t willing to entertain any other options besides mild recriminations.

The real issue is that Stephen Miller wants it (because he thinks major disorder will let him press the dictatorship button).
it's grim, but the reality is that Trump wants more innocent people to die here in the Twin Cities and the GOP majorities in both chambers of Congress are either ambivalent about more lives being taken or outright support it

In case it isn’t somehow obvious, Gabbard was always known as a massive intelligence risk, even amongst the morons who brought her into the fold for her loyalty. It is partly why they kept her out of nearly every major FP operation and now, under a barrage of scandals, they have a convenient patsy.
I have spoken with several senior FBI counterintelligence officers who believe that there is a reasonably strong prospect that Tulsi Gabbard is a foreign intelligence asset.
As you read WSJ's piece on the super-secret abuse complaint about Tulsi Gabbard, remember that she tried unsuccessfully to wring counterintelligence function away from FBI last year.

Really brings home the fact that the delay in producing files was absolutely part of an effort to protect Trump versus the DOJ's oft-touted explanation that they were ensuring protection for victims.

and furthermore, it’s very clear that the two most important political tests for the senate in 2029 once we take it will be:

1. expanding the Supreme Court

2. Admitting PR/DC as states
imo just mechanically vote for whichever Senate candidate promises most clearly to destroy the filibuster

Good to see that many Dem elected officials now want to be seen getting involved in the cases of immigrants who have been wrongly detained by ICE.

Let's spare a word for @vanhollen.senate.gov, who did this for Kilmar Abrego Garcia back when wise pundits said this was politically dangerous.

Ager: I had a neighbor who didn’t go to the doctor because he had a stomach ache and thought he’d be all right. Four months later he died. People are more afraid of the costs than getting the care they need. This is happening all across the country, and we can do better.

i think this is a key thing that makes "abolish ICE and undo DHS" good policy in and of itself

these killers are not fresh recruits, they're just existing guys who got the go ahead to be vicious thugs and pounced on the opportunity
Both of the agents responsible for killing Alex Pretti were hired long before the current surge where “training” could be a culprit.

The rot in Border Patrol and DHS at large runs very deep. There has to be a reckoning soon where we look at what we’ve created and how we got here /

The most succinct way of describing the Biden years is an attempt to return to normalcy in highly abnormal times
I think he geniunely believed that it would have been inappropriate and believed in preserving norm. This was in some sense noble. In a most greater and more meaningful sense, he was stupid and wrong.
