The whole case is compelling, but when I read Andrew's piece I was struck about the contrast between the sort of arrest / prosecution PR releases every department does and the resistance to it for the officers.

I'd bar arrest announcements if I could.
Meanwhile, DA Sullivan's office regularly posts press releases with the names of people it prosecutes on its website, as my lawyer pointed out at the December 3 hearing.

An independent journalist is fighting to get the names of police officers who have been charged with crimes. A district attorney claims that information is exempt from the public records law.
NEW: On Monday, I asked a judge to order Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan's office to disclose the names of police officers who have been charged with crimes like possession of child pornography, assault and battery, and driving under the influence.

Netflix at last owns the Time-Life Mysteries of the Unknown book series. The best thing to ever come out of a subscription model. This was always the endgame.

I’m all for a good rag on Elon Musk but also we used to have phonebooks that did this
NEW: Elon Musk's Grok chatbot will, with minimal prompting, provide residential addresses of everyday Americans.

Prompts as simple as "[name] address" immediately returned accurate home addresses of private citizens — alongside other personal info we didn't ask for.

The levels of failure on this marketing mail from the Danbury Mint is incredible. The blacked out name is my father, who has not lived at this address in a decade and, to my knowledge, has never been linked to me as a spouse.

Also I want to see their studies or surveys on chain lengths.

Horrifying story: Chicago promoted two police officers even after investigators found they engaged in sexual misconduct. That’s because the Chicago Police Department’s promotions system allows officers’ disciplinary records to be ignored.

I think it's important to note that it's not Newsmax that's pushing this, but Andrew Napolitano. He's a libertarian lawyer who isn't quite "dance shirtless on the convention stage" type, but was opposed to Trump long before most.

The bsky hive probably doesn't agree w/him on anything else.
Woah. Newsmax’s legal analyst just said Pete Hegseth and everyone involved in the illegal boat strike should be “prosecuted for a war crime.”

They’ve even lost Newsmax on this one.
