IT'S A WONDERFUL ESSAY: It seems people usually rewatch 'It's a Wonderful Life' just before Christmas. Can I commend to you this marvelous essay we published a few years ago? It could change the way you understand that classic movie.

There Is No Mary Problem in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’
George’s vision of his wife without him is essential to the film, but critics continue to miss its true—and profound—meaning.

1. Keep your eye on the ball, people

That Epstein-Larry Nassar letter has fake written all over it -- N. Virginia postmark, after JE's death, in a handwriting that appears not his own

It's hard not to think DOJ WANTED this out there to then be debunked and thus discredit every mention of Trump...

Kavanaugh goes out of his way to pen a footnote not having to deal with the case at hand.

He appears to be trying to narrow the forces he unleashed with his prior opinion allowing for race- and ethnicity-based #KavanaughStops

Brett Kavanaugh (September 2025): The facts and how they relate to the law don’t matter. Assume ICE and other federal forces always act with integrity, always respect rights, and consistently impose minimal burden.

Brett Kavanaugh (December 2025): Should I not have done that? Was that wrong?
Kavanaugh in a footnote in today's opinion says "the officers must not make interior immigration stops or arrests based on race or ethnicity."

My friend just rescued a cat who had been in a hoarder’s house and then in a shelter’s cage for five months. Came home today.

I haven’t wanted to hug something more in my entire life than I want to hug Bob.

People are taking “fake it til you make it” waaay too far, wow. We need a new adage like “learn it until you make it” or something.
Blocked someone who told me they intended to pirate my work because they can't get it exactly where and how they want. Maybe they will, but they're an asshole to go out of their way to tell a creator that, and I'm not tolerating assholes on this site. It's easy not to be an asshole, y'all.

Dog came over to me and whined to be let outside and I said, "I can't take you out yet, there's a cat on me." She literally sighed and went to lie back down.

I say this ALL THE TIME
When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.
Seems like it's worth posting this one again.

Building on this, “Feeding AI” also devalues the labor of archivists, while endangering original records as well as the authenticity and reliability of the records. People do not understand that end of the work and assume we can just digitize everything. No. No we cannot.
(standing in the NARA reading room, “feeding” a raft of unpublished government documents into AI somehow, as the archivists are definitely applauding me, telling it to find the important stuff)

THREAD.

My parents' cat Bridget vanished. As the weeks dragged on they became ever more worried, so to distract himself my dad began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up at some of art & music's most important moments.

I've collected his work here...
