“Police charged Strecker with two offences under the Terrorism Law 2002, even though she had posted “I don’t support Hamas” and “this is a call for non-violent action”. In other words, you can now be prosecuted if police decide you secretly meant the opposite of what you actually said.”
Someone in the police dislikes an opinion you shared online, therefore, they scrutinise everything you’ve ever posted to see if they can use something against you

It’s worse when you consider they didn’t find anything incriminating, but went ahead with the prosecution anyway

One of the reasons I think it’s also essential to not call the boat strikes “war crimes” but “crimes against humanity,” is that it emphasizes that Trump and Hegseth are acting extra-constitutionally and are not entitled to any shield from the courts. This systematic murder of civilians is illegal.

This is a book my moribund ex-publishers almost killed last year by taking it out of print just when word of mouth was building on it (and stopped paying me).

A bookseller recently told me that it's "already an acknowledged cult classic in indie shops". Best to find out for yourself, though...

In another demonstration of his contempt for the law, Trump announced today that he’s offering a "full and unconditional PARDON" to Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) and his wife Imelda.

They were indicted last year for bribery, unlawful foreign influence and money laundering.
Trump is making public corruption legal. He's building a kleptocracy.

1. Jared Kushner's trip to Moscow yesterday was not just unethical; it was illegal.

You cannot accept tens of millions of dollars from foreign governments and simultaneously conduct high-level diplomacy for the federal government.

It says it right in the Constitution.
Kushner’s Moscow mission wasn’t just corrupt. It was unconstitutional.
Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, has been traveling the world to participate in high-stakes foreign policy negotiations on behalf of the president.

In the UK, those aged 65-80 are eligible for shingles vaccination under the NHS, and so is anyone outside that range who has a severely weakened immune system.
You need two doses, 6-12 months apart.
It’s worth it to protect yourself against shingles, let alone dementia.
Multiple large natural experiments have documented Shingles vaccine is linked with ~20-25% reduced risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. A new report today adds to that and extends the to slowing the progression of dementia @cellcellpress.bsky.social
