The USA is no longer a reliable ally for Europe. We must build a European defence capability which is totally independent of the Americans. It will cost European taxpayers to do so, but we must stop fooling ourselves that Trump would ever honour the NATO article 5 commitment.
Hegseth: "We must start by recognizing that returning to Ukraine's pre-2014 borders is an unrealistic objective ... the US does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome of a negotiated settlement."

All of us: Why, in our judgement, Chris Mason is misleading on most political points, all the time.

Because he’s incapable of political commentary that isn’t marinated in his own rightwing bias. Allegations for Labour. Free passes for Tories/Reform. Every Single Time.

Chris Mason: Why, in my judgement, Reeves was misleading on one specific point
The Chancellor chose not to share some information on tax receipts in an unusual press conference, given before the Budget.

Fresh economic analysis suggest that by 2025, Brexit had reduced the UK's GDP by 6-8%
• Investment may have been reduced by 12-18% and productivity by 3-4% - two key areas for long-term growth prospects
• Sectors UK excels at, such as finance, tech and creative economy, all require openness

It’s not a stretch to say that my former political party is now firmly pro-Russia/pro-Putin. Not a stretch at all. It’s traitorous, but it’s true. Look, the leader of my former political party works for Putin. He’s on Putin’s side. Always has been. And the party has followed him.

News --> The commander who oversaw Pete Hegseth's alleged killing of two boat bombing survivors is now likely to come in and face questions from the House Armed Services Committee, ranking Dem Adam Smith tells me.

In this piece, I try to make sense of this horror:

Trump Boat Bombings Suddenly on Shakier Ground as Damning Info Emerges
Will Republicans give us a real investigation into Trump’s bombings, now that we just learned horrific new details about them? Or are they seriously going to fall on their swords for Pete Hegseth?

LEAVITT: The strike was conducted in self defense to protect Americans

Brexit knocked 8% off GDP. There are no growth opportunities for the UK economy that comes anywhere near rejoining the customs union and single market. To ignore this when you have the power to do something about it, solely because you are scared of the gutter press , is gross criminal negligence.
👏🏽"We must all now confront the reality that the Brexit deal significantly hurt our economy. We have to keep reducing frictions. We have to keep moving towards a closer relationship with the EU. And we have to be grown up about it. To accept that it will require trade-offs."👏🏽

Farage rarely turned up to vote when he was an MEP.

But, he did turn up to vote against the EU’s anti-Russia interference motion.

He said it was a “hoax”.

He voted against strengthening Europe’s defences against foreign interference.

Why?

What’s the point of Keir Starmer employing an economics advisor if he ignores her on the biggest economic issue of the day?
December 1, 2025 at 5:02 PM
Yes why was it always someone else's fault from 2010 to 2024? When did any Tory ever take responsibility for anything? Like 23000 avoidable deaths from Covid, like smashing 8% off GDP with Brexit. Like Truss crashing the economy.
What is she even talking about? The OBR is, by design, not under the control of Rachel Reeves.

The OBR is run independently from Government. It literally was somebody else's fault.

You'd think Kemi Badenoch would know that given her own party created it in Government, but apparently not
