Musk surely must have been aware that EV's were not primarily being bought by red necked Nazis. In going over the top with extreme right wing politics, he destroyed the brand in many people's eyes.

I was a bit annoyed as a then EU taxpayer, to be asked to pay double to visit a park in Kenya which was covered in "funded by the EU" notices.

I once had a thanksgiving meal with a US family in Jakarta. They had been locked down in their house while anti Chinese rioting had been going on for weeks. The US government had ordered them to leave, but they believed it was too dangerous to go to the airport. They were grateful to survive.
