I’ll sweeten it a bit, even: PNW game devs, if you have a talk you think would be good for GDC and want to make a video of that talk and put it online instead, I’ll do free audio, video, and lighting for them up to a day of production for the first three people who hit me up
As GDC talk applications have opened, I want to politely remind you that GDC remains one of the most inaccessible, unfairly expensive, and dangerous for-profit game industry events out there - and that offering your labour for free to it just adds value that pressures people into going needlessly.

Kevin James making Heart of Darkness: The Buddy Comedy because fatherhood is hard is not something I was high enough for
I was not prepared for ‘what if Heart of Darkness was a buddy comedy’ but by god Kevin James and Alan Ritchson did just that.

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:

That’s like claiming you weren’t hanging out at a Nazi bar, you were hanging out at the KKK bar down the street so everything is fine.

Japanese bears said "land back"
Not only do they have brown bears (like full-on Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant-style brown bears!), they are apparently one of the only places on earth where large land predators are *reclaiming* territory rather than losing it.

I actually use my unfortunately large pickup (god Tundras are huge) on a very regular basis and I fully support this
pickup trucks for the average person should not have been allowed to advance past this. if you need anything bigger, you should have to provide some kind of documentation showing you have the license and need for special heavy machinery, otherwise you get the 1990 toyota hilux

Aaron Judge is certainly a valid choice for MVP, this is not a robbery, he put up a historic season and is firmly establishing himself as one of the best hitters of all time

but come on, a catcher just hit 60 home runs

Your periodic reminder that I’m available for hire for camera operator, audio engineer, and gaffer work anywhere in the PNW
Working on my color grading knowledge/tricks with some footage I took at Saltwater State Park a couple weeks ago. Frame from the original footage in the replies for comparison but I'm pretty proud of how this turned out. Couple of minor nits to pick, but a hell of a long way from a year ago

TIL there's a wild peacock that hangs out around one of the neighborhoods in east Kent and trolls people by ringing their doorbells and then hiding on the roof.

Yes I'm working on leads 😂

I keep telling @evan.sooscreek.productions I'm gonna bring back capes. This is a sign
People should dress like this

Imagine how much better your day would be if you saw people dressed like this at the grocery store

Decentralizing video content is a good idea on paper but it’s hard to see this as anything more than a tech demo. It doesn’t fit into the existing ecosystem at all.

One of the side effects of killing Vine was letting TikTok reshape the attention economy. And it’s evolved since then! I’ll explain:
The takeaway here is diVine isn’t an attempt to resurrect Vine. It’s an attempt to demo nostr/decentralized video content
The thing about bringing Vine back now is the place it filled in the market has been completely demolished. Vine could only exist in the time Vine existed

JD Vance owns a company that buys American real estate and sells it to foreign investors. They specifically target Americans in crisis to buy their property for less than it is worth.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Katie Wilson presser has some good stuff. Amy’s got the thread to follow here
"Wealthy interests poured nearly $2M into a political action committee to prevent my election. Because for some people in our city, the status quo is working exactly as intended. It may look like an affordability crisis to working poor people, but to others, it simply looks like business as usual."

It seems like it’s not very likely the Sounders would be able to land their own stadium in Seattle. This new schedule is definitely going to force the issue, though. Too much overlap with Seahawks games

So where does the new Sounders stadium end up? Longacres? Newcastle?

I have lost track of how many times I’ve seen a prominent journalist (eg at NY Times) defend against media criticism with something like “but that wouldn’t have changed many votes” or “but Trump supporters wouldn’t have cared.”

So? You’re in the truth business. Or at least you’re supposed to be.
