This is why OpenAI is selling so aggressively to education at all levels—they want to create entire generations of users incapable of reading, writing and thinking without ChatGPT to hold their hands

And teachers and professors should call this out for what it actually is
To bear out this rosy projection, HSBC assumes that OpenAI will become "as ubiquitous [...] as Microsoft 365" (345mm users worldwide) while bringing in 10x the number of users (3bn).

Fuck sake! Sanderson doesn't know what an art director does. I have a degree in art direction. Art directors possess many skills. They draw, use software, physically make initial idea prototypes. They don't just tell people what to do.
Don't give AI bros another job title to appropriate. 🙄 #fuckAI

Cheezy American narrator voice:

"Can't be bothered to learn instrument?
Can't be bothered to write a song?
Can't be bothered to learn to draw?
Try AI!

AI- for untalented, lazy knobheads everywhere"
I cannot stop laughing. This is so indicative of what's wrong with these AI people and how they view art
He ran into a wall where the "make art" button wasn't satisfying because it wasn't actually making good enough art, and instead of trying new things he just requests a stronger button

#writingcommunity This is a sad fact of publishing. We can aim to give readers alternative ways to buy books & audios but the pull of the Zon is strong.
It cost me $ to offer direct audio so listeners can avoid Audible. It didn't pay off. I won't be renewing my Bookfunnel audio hosting next year.
My books are sold wide on the likes of Kobo, B&N, Google play. Readers asked for direct sales too. I spent so much time & money setting up a shop and direct sales for books and audiobooks.
You know what? My readers still go to Amazon. 🫠 The handful who want to buy direct wouldn't earn me a coffee.

He observed his #reflection in the hall mirror
Behind him
At the window a silhouette shimmered
He stood still
Wanted to scream
Incomprehension
This wasn't a dream
The doorbell rang
A deathly tone
The note on the doormat said:

"We tried to deliver your parcel but you weren't home'

Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

It's $5, not your first-born child! I need that $5 for health insurance!

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

The only thing I want to see projected is Scam Altman fired from a rocket into the sun. Everything he says is fantasy that tech journalists lick up like hungry kittens. Pathetic.
I reported a few months ago that in August Microsoft had only 8 million active paying users of Microsoft 365 Copilot. So tired of his company! Wow you’re gonna have 220 million paying subscribers, crazy, are you going to conjure a genie too? How about a dragon? Fantastical bullshit

So OpenAI is saying that this troubled teen fucked around and found out. They're blaming him for believing ChatGPT. Fuck the whole company to hell, and they can take their scumbag legal team with them.
“OpenAI’s court filing argued that the harms in this case were at least partly caused by Raine’s ‘failure to heed warnings, obtain help, or otherwise exercise reasonable care,’ as well as the ‘failure of others to respond to his obvious signs of distress.’”
OpenAI denies allegations that ChatGPT is to blame for a teenager's suicide
Adam Raine's family sued the AI company in August. On Tuesday, OpenAI said in a new court filing that it isn't responsible for the teen's death.

Its ridiculous to equate the Great Library of Alexandria with modern book piracy. You have to remember the historical context. The Library existed during a time when there was possibly just one copy of a scroll and everything was handwritten. The point was to share knowledge. #writingcommunity
Every time a ship docked at Alexandria, Government Customs officials searched it ... for books. Any that were found were compulsorily borrowed so they could be copied and returned.

The Great Library of Alexandria was state-sponsored piracy.

BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

The daily fight to remain #relevant
A social media white elephant
The burden is great
To robotically create
But follows don't pay the rent
So I must vent
Follower count doesn't matter
Avoid the chatter
Go write, paint & compose
As if no one knows
You exist
Creativity is where you find bliss

I feel seen!
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

Twitter is a psy op. If you're still on that site you're a subject of manipulation and misinformation by bots and trolls who are paid by billionaires, tech bros, and governments like Russia, the US and China. They want to keep you in a state of fear and anxiety.
If you’re a journalist who’s still on Twitter, from now on in your writing you have to replace “the American people want” with “troll bots in Eastern Europe demand”

Being there makes your judgment suspect. I don’t care how savvy you think you are, you’re marinating in a disinformation campaign.
