Literally 'How the mighty have fallen..." into mental illness.

This is a really hard one. My mind initially went blank😂 I've seen so many bands.

I totally get it. All that matters to me is that people buy from wherever my books are available and don't pirate.

One thing that really annoys me is famous authors talking about stuff they know nothing about and their fanbase taking it as lore. Sanderson did this with Audible and their new Royaly model that he said was better for us. Audible took him for a ride. I take him with a pinch of salt.

It's frustrating, because if you give AI bros an inch, they'll take it and run with it. If I see them calling themselves 'Art Directors' it will piss me off mightily. Art directors do a highly skilled job. Lets just call them what they are. Lazy bastards.

The term 'Art Director' is kind of a misnomer. The job differs slightly in graphics, film, TV, fashion & theater. But it's mainly translating production designers concepts into practical designs, managing budgets & schedules across departments. It's a highly skilled job. AI bros are not this!

Again, Sanderson doesn't quite hit the mark. And he doesn't know what an art director does. I have a degree in art direction. Art directors need to have many skills. They have to be able to draw, use software, physically make initial idea prototypes. They don't just tell people what to do. 🙄

Yeah, I'm here for this.😍 It will be on HBO max in the UK (Via the NOW tv app) from tomorrow. I'll probably wait until the whole series is up on 26th Dec and binge it.

As an author whose books have been pirated millions of times - including audiobooks that cost me thousands of dollars to produce, I'd kinda like to earn a living from my work - that's the point. 'Yeah but' apologists for piracy don't help. Authors earn via royalties on sales - we're all struggling.

Libraries were never designed to be catch-alls for a society failed by consecutive governments. They're not drop-in centers, they're not social care homes, they're not after school clubs. They offer free educational resources. It's hard enough for libraries to stay open and funded to lend books.

Yes, and libraries pay public lending rights royalties to authors.

Can you explain why you think this?
November 27, 2025 at 1:11 AM
My books are sold wide on the likes of Kobo, B&N, Google play. Readers asked for direct sales too. I spent so much time & money setting up a shop and direct sales for books and audiobooks.
You know what? My readers still go to Amazon. 🫠 The handful who want to buy direct wouldn't earn me a coffee.
