Trump is 30 points underwater. Dems swept the special elections. People know the GOP is responsible for the shutdown. So the Dem Senators pulled out their big guns... and shot themselves in the foot.

Unbelievable tragedy closely documented with absolutely razor sharp filmmaking. Heartbreaking, enraging, brilliant
Netflix’s new documentary, “The Perfect Neighbor,” highlights the tragic reality of Shoot First laws. These laws—which the gun lobby calls “Stand Your Ground” laws to make them seem justifiable—have increased gun murders by up to 11% nationally, translating to more than 700 deaths each year.

Yesterday's No Kings protests were apparently the largest since the first Earth Day in 1970

The NYT covered that story with a six column headline across the top of the paper and two full pages inside

Today, two small pics below the fold and a story on page A23

They constantly let America down

Any American medium that fails to cover the largest protests in American history is failing in the basic mission of informing the public about the facts.

All I want in life is to persuade everyone, when encountering politics & culture, to ask, "why are we talking about this?" I mean that very literally: anything you encounter on your screens reflects a choice. Someone covered that, talked about that, rather than the many other things out there. Why?

Again we see the incoherence of right-wing policy. Rounding up homeless people and imprisoning them *is* housing them! Punitive solutions to this problem also cost a shitload and require a massive bureaucracy.

They are fine with providing housing, but only if it is ineffective and dehumanizing.
This is the line of thinking. Prevent states and localities from being more protective of the unhoused than SCOTUS. Do it through financial coercion.

Article about Mamdani’s box checking as an 18 year old is a good reminder: @nytimes.com you did this. Your “what about her emails” panic tanked Hillary Clinton’s campaign and your constant sane-washing of Trump’s deranged “policies” made it palatable for people to vote for him.
