Why are random citizens consistently, and continuously, turning up major scandals by the government that NZ media are both *incapable of finding* AND refuse to report on even when they learn about it via citizen journalism???
Also has the NZ media even reported on the OIA by NZATE (I think it was) that returned evidence that David Seymour logged in to a Google Doc of the English curriculum rewrite and started making his own edits to it, completely outside the chain of responsibility and Ministry procedures?

This increase is almost certainly related to the current govt’s austerity measures. Increasing poverty and stress across the community leads to increased drug use of all types. Denying adequate healthcare to help people get off drugs also contributes to ongoing addiction.

As I type this, the Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing on the "censorship industrial complex," in which they falsely blame academics who study disinfo of "censorship" at the very moment that the Trump admin is proactively threatening people who dissent from its views. It's fucking crazy

Broken system. Thinking about the alcohol-fuelled rampages in Dunedin this week on the anniversary of the student death at a St Pats Day party. One small example of the ongoing destruction and harm from the socially accepted booze, while cannabis is treated with lawfare and exaggerated moral panic.
On one hand, clinics dispensing mostly imported high-THC cannabis to people who can pay, essentially on demand; and on the other, a kind, dedicated green fairy grower (he's even been paying tax since friends helped him set up a company) having his place smashed up with axes and facing prison time.

Feeding kids at school is a start, but massively insufficient. We need to set up other systems so children are fed every day, not just the 190 days a year that schools are open.
