I realise I've been a bit slack with dropping hints for #SecretSantaAoNZ.

I'm not actually a big fan of "I'd like a..." or "... would go down well", as I think the sleuthing is an important part of the fun.

So instead here's a few photos that contain a lot of the things that bring me joy.

Restraint. Fucks sake Labour is that bewedded to the cancerous Centralism Incrementalism it has learnt nothing from 2023 when it got its arse handed to it because of Centralism Incrementalism

If all Labour can offer is National Lite why would people change to Labour

They wont

OPINION: Labour’s finance spokesperson set the tone for 2026 with a message of restraint and fiscal responsibility — while avoiding the details voters will eventually demand.

Anyone who uses legality as their benchmark for being a good person is usually signalling they’re the complete opposite. #nzpol
"It's perfectly legal to be a tobacco lobbyist" is an argument that was made with, apparently, a straight face

I've read it and it would make a fantastic gift for the tamariki in your life. It's a rollicking read.

Set in New Zealand and based strongly in Māori mythology. A perfect alternative to the boy wizard.
Hey, gonna shamelessly plug my wares:
Charlie Tangaroa and the God of War is now a year old and, sadly, despite brilliant reviews, has kinda been ignored. It's a bit longer than book 1 but is very exciting

And there is NEVER any mention made, EVER, about those with Dyscalculia!

THOSE are the kids who will have the roughest time with this so-called improvement. I had a horrendous time at school because of it. When dyslexia became recognised, I had high hopes for those of us with dyscalculia, but 🦗🦗

Now THAT is an unexpected line-up. 🤘🤣🤘

Then again, it will be pretty magical to watch Iggy belt out "You Raise Me Up".

While incredibly sad, this doesn't surprise me in the least.

This government has proven time and time again to be completely incapable of imagining and catering to a world outside of their own carefully curated bubbles. #nzpol
My nephew is dyslexic and his high school offers an alternative learning track for students like him.
My sister called the school yesterday to confirm she'd like him enrolled in that programme and was told it might not be available next year because the new curriculum doesn't include it. 😱😱

I'm so fucking exhausted by this evidence averse government who is far more interested in stoking culture wars online than actually getting down to the job of making this country a better place for us all. #nzpol
The full quote if anyone was curious: "Critical pedagogies recognise the importance of mathematics and statistics as tools for understanding, interpreting, and addressing issues of power and inequity, both in the classroom and in the wider world."
New Zealand's Minister of Education can't tell the difference between Mathematics and Social Studies.

Why is it "frankly disgusting" for parents and schools to stand up for what THEY believe is right for their tamariki? Why is the PM allowing his MPs to spread anti-worker, anti-Te Tiriti disinformation on social media?

PFFT! Fart walks are for amateurs. REAL methxperts toot it out and blame the dog, even when he sadly passed away a few months back.
Feeling gassy after Thanksgiving? Take a fart walk.

Light exercise after a big meal can help. Whatever you do, resist the urge to lie down.

This looks like a thread I need to pay close attention to. A few album covers I recognise (and love) in this, but a whole lot more that are unfamiliar to me.

2025 music review 🎧

Not an AOTY list — just sharing songs that stood out to me from albums I’ve heard this year. No rankings, just moments that caught my ear.

Mostly Prog and a bit of alternative music.
