Star trek yes please and thank you. Working on my shit. Former courtwatch organizer. Former regional field director for the WA dems in 2018 (was working to elect Lisa Brown). Posting criticisms of spokane government - The police are defunding Spokane

So fucking upset that I spent half a year or so working 80-90 hour weeks primarily to get Lisa Brown elected to congress. I was in meetings with her every other week, I know she's been to protests before, I know she knows how this works. Utterly despicable
Per data in this report, washington state had 1463 arrests by ICE between 5/21 and 10/15. 336 of those were from jails. Make no mistake, the carceral system in washington state is part of mass deportation.

Really useful analysis of data to show how many people are going to ICE detention from local jails. These arrests are less visible to the public - as compared to raids or street arrests -- so we don't see the full scope.
From @prisonpolicy.org: New analysis of government data from ICE via the Deportation Data Project shows federal agents reliant on local jails and police to reach their arrest numbers.

2. Put the pressure on locally.

Tell your county commissioner to cancel the contract with Flock. If you live in Cheney, Airway Heights, Liberty Lake or Spokane Valley, ask your city council member to cancel their Flock contracts.

The U.S. unemployment rate is at a four-year high of 4.4%. Now, try wrapping your head around the idea of a 43% unemployment rate.

That’s the reality formerly incarcerated Black women face, thanks to the prison penalty:

Ugh, searching job postings and my internet is being very slow. Has been since the windstorm last night. In the scope of problems caused by the storm, not a big one at all but it is making a frustrating process more so

Apparently it was Sabzi from Blue Scholars and Common Market's birthday this week, two bands I probably saw like eight times each back in the day. Hadn't listened to this album in ages, it's so good.

Can't believe we have to say this, but tampons aren't contraband.

And yet in NY state prisons, body scanners (that COs demanded) are picking up menstrual products, leaving people barred from visiting with their incarcerated loved ones.

Guards demanded body scanners to cut down on contraband. Now they’re turning visitors away over their hygiene and medical supplies.

I sort of wish y'all took this more seriously, because this attitude is a reinforcement of heterosexuality as a hierarchy. It's an acknowledgement and understanding that it's not enough to "be with" a woman, or even to father children.

They define manhood as exploitation, abuse, and dominance.

Two more deaths in ICE custody were confirmed today, bringing total to 25

These are just the ones we know about

There’s others, like Randall Esquivel, who become deathly ill in custody but get deported before they die

He was in a vegetative state when they deported him.

He died in Costa Rica

Of the 1000's who showed up to protect our community members from being kidnapped only 9 were arrested and pretty much everyone who was arrested was from a marginalized community.

They also confiscated mikkis melodica and they still don't have it back.

I know that the fascism of it all is happening everywhere but it's happening here in Spokane. The federal govts case insists that the ice kidnappings of two local us citizens were "legal" and that people responding to a call to action from social media were plotting a "conspiracy"
The plea deal turns a potential felony sentence that could mean six years in federal prison and $250,000 in fines into three years of probation and a few thousand dollars in restitution costs.

This story is so much more than "people took a plea deal." This was a hard choice between fighting for what they believe in and what each person can reasonably endure. It's also a hallmark of our justice system to put people in that position.
