The people who make Shein's clothes labor for ten to twelve hours per day (in violation of China's labor laws), some up to seven days a week, and earn as little as 15 to 30 cents per t-shirt.

She is in an alleyway, where a dozen people are huddled around a row of bulletin boards.
They are reading the job ads on the board, while examining the stitching on a pair of chinos draped over it.
This is Shein's supply chain. The factories are contracted to make clothes on order - some small, some big. If the chinos are a hit, orders will ramp up and so must production. Factories then hire temporary workers to meet the demand their permanent staff cannot fulfil.
The migrant worker from Jiangxi is looking for a short-term contract - and the chinos are an option.
"We earn so little. The cost of living is now so high," she says, adding that she hopes to make enough to send back to her two children who are living with their grandparents.
"We get paid per piece," she explains. "It depends how difficult the item is. Really interesting seeing France putting the screws to SHEIN. We don’t have to just accept the race to the bottom of #fastfashion, the horrible labour and sustainability practices aren’t good for anyone

Almost all parties had at least one MP who took one for the team to avoid another election. Two months ago I never would have guessed that the BQ would be the holdout (since Blanchet had said he wasn’t keen on triggering one for at least a year). Glad we’re avoiding one regardless 😮💨

I’ve worked on parking policies in a lot of cities, and every city should be looking at getting rid of minimum parking requirements, while considering maximum parking requirements downtown & around transit stations.
At an absolute minimum though, REMOVE PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING.

Because of that stupid beer jacket AI post I’ve been compelled to dig up old pics of me DIY-ing the same concept with just an iron, plastic sheets and duck tape. Looks like the straw got lodged up a bit in this pic (or my previous sip had been massive) but the successful execution is evident
For the first half of the parade it was good! The pun was lost (the concept was “The Big Freezie” but I learned that Americans call them “Freeze Pops” so no rhyming with “Big Easy.” Dumb move to use white wine instead of red but you can still see the liquid line around my hip level #whoneedsAI
