Our Ottawa Paramedic Service Headquarters show incredible grace, compassion, and care when residents are facing some of the toughest moments of their lives. I was grateful to celebrate many of them with Councillor David Hill for their years of dedicated service and their exceptional contributions.

I was proud to open “Cultivating Community: Agriculture Rooted in Ottawa’s History” at City Hall. This exhibit brings together stories from Ottawa’s early farmers, the important roles of women in agriculture, and Indigenous perspectives on the impacts of Western farming.

The MADD Canada team joined us at City Hall to launch this year’s Red Ribbon campaign. It’s a clear reminder of the responsibility we all share to prevent impaired driving and keep our roads safe. I’m grateful to the first responders who see the consequences of these choices far too often.

Our YMCA is doing an incredible job supporting young people. I met several youth residents who shared their stories and their goals. They are determined and with the support of the amazing staff, they are getting access to comfortable and secure places to stay.

It was great to welcome the Capital Pride team to City Hall. The trans community is facing real challenges in many parts of the world. Pride gives us a space to stand together with our trans friends, family members, neighbours, and colleagues. Capital Pride is a vital celebration for our city.

It was great to be at today’s Youth Forum. This event celebrates the incredible work of young people across Ottawa. For the past year, 17 youth facilitators have been leading conversations in their own communities.

There’s nothing more important than keeping our young people safe. I pledged to end youth homelessness in Ottawa by 2030 and it was fantastic to welcome Algonquin College Community and Justice Services students to City Hall, who are helping with that pledge.

We’ve set an ambitious goal of ending youth homelessness in Ottawa. It was so inspiring and impressive to see more than 160 students at University of Ottawa put their talents and energy into developing innovative projects that will help us achieve that goal.
