I, however,
Have such meagre power,

Clutching at a
Moment,

While you control
An hour.

But your hour is
A stone.

My moment is
A flower.

please please more of this. collective song is a great and powerful tool
This is stunning. Listen to this in Philadelphia.

Thousands singing “Hey-Oh, we won’t be silent while our friends are gunned down.”

Really listen to it.

they didn’t leak it to make the shooter look innocent, but to make the victim look guilty. not guilty of a crime. guilty of having a visibly queer wife. guilty of liberalism. guilty of opposing the regime. they don’t seek to exonerate themselves, only to demonstrate who deserves to die.
In the video that the shooter took, which I believe was leaked to be exculpatory, he appears to yell “fucking bitch” after he shoots Renee Good.

AOC: “I understand that VP Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, & I do not — That is a fundamental difference between VP Vance & I — I do not believe the American people should be assassinated in the street”

ceding AI to the right is a generational poltical mistake and bullying LLM researchers off bluesky to cook their brains in twitter racism is a self defeating and foolish act from well meaning people deluding themselves into thinking intentional ignorance is a valid form of critique and resistance

good riddance (?) but also goodbye to the most interesting regional accent in Congress
The era of Congressman Steny Hoyer will end in January after 46 years. First elected in 1981, he's the House's longest-serving Democrat. Served stints as conference chair, whip and House majority/minority leader. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...
Steny Hoyer, the longest-serving Democrat in the House, to retire
The Democratic congressman has represented Maryland in the House for more than four decades, including two stints as majority leader under then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

I agree with the widespread anti-death penalty sentiment, but I don't understand why so few people seem to be similarly opposed to life sentences. Is a life sentence not effectively a Death by Prison sentence?

me: No, I prefer not getting hit

cousin: That's where the strategy comes in

here's a hot for Bluesky take: a lot of tech-criticism is so bad and focused on a kind of stupid imagined STEM-humanities culture war that some companies have been able to build whole brands around being "evil tech bros 😈" making supervillain promises despite their shit being vaporware

I've learned a lot of stuff in my life that I rarely have reason to use, but I've also learned a lot of stuff that I never expected to need to use and do use regularly, and the larger point is that there is value to being an educated person, without everything needing to be instrumentalized.

Look, this is far from empirical but I take my cues from my grandparents. They are healthy for their late 80s: They drank caffeine and alcohol all their lives, and didn't look for maximum purity in their food. They didn't overindulge in anything unhealthy but it's not like they deprived themselves
Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj
