what I worry about, and anecdotally have sorta started seeing, is that the "you don't have to know how to code at all!" thing is imputing a level of care and seriousness to what Anthropic et al are putting out there, and that things like their marketplace aren't just "here it is" but "this is good"

Not sure I'm sold on the theology of this but signing that particular dotted line is as obvious a deal with the Adversary as I think you can possibly make. The Old Testament says that you must not profit by the blood of your neighbor; the New Testament commands that we love our neighbor. Not hard!

I like programming, but I like shipping really good shit better. If claude code or similar assistants get me there faster it's an absolute no brainer.

I was talking to my neighbor last night who’s also in tech and we agreed that we both love Claude code because we care more about building things than writing code per se. if you view code as a means to an end, LLMs are great. If you view code as an end in itself, they’re not.
I think that this is not true for all developers, which is part of the friction here. There are devs who like the implementation more than the output, and more than the deliverable solving a problem.
I've always been output first, so the adoption was smooth. Other points on the spectrum feel pain.
