It’s hard to exaggerate how bad the situation is in the UK. There are eight people on hunger strike and David Lammy recently claimed he wasn’t even aware of it. That hunger strikers may actually die is barely even news.

Everyone knows about Ahmed al-Ahmad, the Syrian Muslim migrant who took down one gunman. Another man, a Middle Eastern refugee, ran into a firefight and kicked the gun away from the other gunman. Police shot him, and bystanders kicked him in the head while he was down, thinking he was the terrorist.

Ever so often I become fascinated by the Pacific War of WWII. The ships, the island hopping, the exotic locations, life in the 30s and 40s.
My grandmother grew up in that era, but she would never elaborate. I did see her shed some tears at a B17 bomber exhibit, but little more would she say.

One of my friends deployed to Afghanistan twice, got blown up several times.
When he saw the media making a big deal about the US abandoning women’s rights in Afghanistan his response was we did nothing for women’s rights or ending slavery & pedophilia outside of Kabul. Even inside Kabul was bad.

Making the most depressing point I can make yet again: the US media is going to treat Donald Trump with far less vitriol in response to him starting a random war in Venezuela vs the sheer level of vitriol that they hurled at Joe Biden for ENDING the War in Afghanistan.
Every major news organization should be writing about how insane this is and how, if he takes this country to war (tomorrow?), it is the act of a madman.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."
