this is a fake problem. no one is saying this to regular, offline people who are coming around. they’re saying it to people who are engaged in professional political analysis who committed professional malpractice by scolding people who saw what was coming.

no, those people shouldn’t get a break.
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

You don't have to know anything about what the Supreme Court says to understand that the federal government has no legal warrant extort through violence what it is not legally entitled to under constitution and law.

I am still thinking about how Alex Pretti was out there directing traffic, waving cars through. A instinctive, quintessentially Dad Response to any kind of commotion happening on the block—to go out and help a little, in a small way. To make sure no one gets unnecessarily hurt.
signs left at alex pretti’s memorial in minneapolis: “i love you so much / i’ll miss you forever” photo with a friend, “i would have done the same. RIP alex,” a stethoscope and “we’ll take it from here, alex” and a tshirt for the minnesota nurses association

This is Minneapolis:

A neighbor sold some silver jewelry she inherited from her grandparents to cover rent for a neighbor who hasn't been able to work during these 7 weeks of federal occupation and is at risk of eviction.

We need an eviction moratorium NOW.

And resources for food delivery.

Victor Manuel Diaz, 36, was abducted in Minneapolis. He died in ICE’s El Paso detention camp 8 days later on Jan 14.

ICE calls it suicide.

They didn’t send his body to the El Paso County ME who just classified another “suicide” at that camp a homicide. They sent him to an army medical center.

You see, what has to happen here is that Pretti’s family HAS to sue Miller for $100 million for defamation of their son’s character.

They’d win hands down, Miller would be bankrupted, and a serious message would be sent to all the other liars and criminals in this administration.
