Tbh, I think that the largest voices in "game design" were never actually qualified to be voices on that subject in the first place. They were never game designers, they were product designers. The principles they laid out were not guidelines for artistic effort but for manufacturing.

I've been around since the 80's and while a few things have steadily improved since then, by and large things have either stayed the same or declined in quality. ESPECIALLY food and drink, which has become more expensive and less fresh and tasty over time, though I do appreciate the extra variety
even within your own lifetime it is difficult to recall how much better everything you eat, drink, and touch is than it used to be
It is genuinely hard for most people to grasp how poor the past was.

What scares the DNC is not losing elections, but winning them with progressive candidates, because that risks alienating their corporate sponsors.
