If conservatives were for real, if they actually believed in the stuff their intelligentsia quote from Burke and Oakshotte, I actually think they'd specifically hate this. But alas far too often it's just a thin veneer of intellectualism over instinctive hates and bigotries, so here we are.

where does my beloved zojirushi rice cooker's fuzzy logic sit? which part of the ai plum pudding chart is responsible for making perfect rice. that's the part we should be giving a trillion dollars
Im definitely oversimplifying the science, but its a subset-set relationship. A (an?) LLM is a set of machine learning decision-making algorithms

This is a chart from @colin-fraser.net

Astonishing to stop and realize that, at any given moment, bands of masked men armed to the teeth are storming churches and daycares, terrorizing entire communities—and that most of the country's political establishment barely blinks.

All I’m asking is for the millionaires in the Senate to show the same courage in standing up to fascism that regular people are showing in streets every day.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

I actually think what ICE is doing under Trump 2.0 is shaping up to be a world-historic campaign of human rights violations in an advanced industrialized ~democracy

I’m not sure I have many modern parallels. Japanese internment? Treatment of French-Algerians in the Algerian war? Those were wartime.

Yes and yet several European countries are embracing a far-right worldview that would burn these policies to the ground, so let’s be not be smug or complacent here - particularly as Mamdani‘s pro-immigration stance is radical by European standards.
Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as ‘normal’ -- Critics of New York City’s mayor-elect have said his pledges of free bus service and universal childcare are unrealistic, but in Europe it’s a given www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I knew that Mamdani had it; he had the people and did the work, and has been the clearest and most lucid in rejecting the untenable current state of things. But the vile, bigoted shit against him was so constant, and I am conditioned to that working better than I want. This feels like an exorcism.

There is no economic rationality to the demands for the mass removal of refugees. it is a plan to change the ethnic composition of the country and remove the other for reasons of bigoted aesthetics to the detriment of all.
