Thirty-something trans bitch in Boston. I was called a ‘gender tourist’ once as an insult but joke’s on you, I’m into that shit.
Only following artists and meme pages, as this site is godawful for news or discourse.
Not fully leaving this site, but I’m literally only going to follow people posting art or shitposts from now on.
If I unfollow you, it’s nothing personal, I’ve just decided that discourse and news are no longer things that this site is providing in a healthy manner.

On the plus side, dealing with my MacBook means that I didn’t spend most of today dealing with some Very Difficult Emotions relating to a personal anniversary on this date. Go me!
Really convenient that my MacBook and I coordinated our breakdowns to happen on the same day

Folks, if every last news outlet pulled out all the stops like they did for Biden Old, Trump would be out in a week, tops.

We all know that the media has the power to swift boat anyone they want.

They are choosing not to do this to Trump *because they have been on his side the whole time*.

This is correct but also Sinners was the only movie I’ve seen in the last several years that wouldn’t have benefit from an additional 10-30 minutes of screen time.
‘Movies should be longer, actually’ is my stupid hill to die on
movies don't need to be shorter, they need to have a video game based on the movie sponsored by a fast casual pizza chain available for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System

Well, half my feed is whining about Star Trek, so I can safely assume that no important news has happened while I was offline. Cool, I can log off now.

This. This this this this this. This has been my mantra all year.

We will win. We will triumph. It's not going to be this month. It almost certainly won't be this year.

Find things that bring you joy--people especially--and drink the very liquid pleasure of it all. It will fuel your fight.
"During the darkest days of the AIDS crisis, we buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night.

The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for."
I'm gonna say this with all the kindness in my heart: you aren't going to survive if you don't let your life have room for other things.

This is not a short term fight where we can just go 24/7 and then it will be over. We've got YEARS ahead of us. Take a break. Hydrate. Go bake something. Breathe.

Seems unfair that you only get to use the bouncy slide to get off a plane when things have gone wrong. The bouncy slide should be a treat they give to the best passengers who did the flight correctly.

If you work for ice please understand that your kids will laugh at a character based on you dying in an action movie before the end of the decade. They’ll be in movies for really little kids. Like Phineas and Ferb shit. There will be an action figure of you with a detachable head

But a repudiation of Black womanhood

My own personal happiness and psychological health has *massively* improved since moving to The City, and yeah anyone opposed go multiculturalism is just evil. It is immoral to be opposed to multiculturalism. It just is. It's a stance not worth considering.
Hard agree. I'm increasingly just zero sympathy for the cowardly chauvinists who can't handle places where lots of different people get along together.
I realise I'm just a freak, but living in a multicultural city is the best thing of all time, it's just the best possible human experience and i can not understand why anyone on earth would be like "weve got to destroy this"

It’s sort of insane how pervasive the framing that multiculturalism is some weird liberal experiment has become.

It’s the default state of what happens when people have easy movement and aren’t actively being told to hate each other. You can prove it by going outside in almost any city.

multiculturalism is so objectively good that if you don't enjoy it you are defective and you should feel defective

Literally every aspect of life is better in a multicultural environment.

Monocultural ‘small communities’ are a literal blight on humanity, and only when they are no longer idolized can all peoples be free

I've increasingly come to view cynicism as the seedbed of totalitarianism, both because it can paralyze the opposition and because it implicitly validates the might-makes-right ethic of the authoritarian.
i have been reading Tom Ricks’ “Fighting the Good War” which is a military analysis of the civil rights movement, and one thing that comes abundantly across is that movement leaders and ordinary people made it a practice to refuse to fall into despair and cynicism.

"this is not who we are" is 90% of the time a normative statement of aspiration, it's not an empirical claim of "these events have never taken place in this country before". one of the most obnoxious genres of "actually..." is reacting like it's the latter when it's clearly the former.
